If Fitzpatrick, James, Smith, or Edmunds is available at #11, I think the Dolphins might hire Usain Bolt to turn the draft card in.

There's nothing fancy about my mock, but I do have the Dolphins taking Fitzpatrick over Rosen based on BPA/need. This team let teams score quickly in the first half of games last year, and we know that we cannot win a shoot out with anyone. Heck, a lot of the schedule hounds have us winning less than 6 games next year on average. Also, I do not see Rosen as an improvement over Tannehill.

Sony Michelle in the 2nd round? I just don't think Gase can resist screaming in 'Baum's ear if he is sitting there in the 2nd round. They say he may fall a bit due to some health issues, so, I would grab him quickly if he were here.

Luke Falk in the third round .... I trust Jammer's analysis on him. He also patterns himself after Tom Brady, and I like his strong arm.

I watched some video of Herndon versus Ian Thomas. I think Ian Thomas will be drafted much higher than we expect and I came away far more impressed with him.

Herndon struck me as more of a fullback and a lot of his catches were screens/dump offs. I didn't see a lot catches over 10 yards down field. Doesn't mean he can't do it, but I felt like I was watching Marquise Gray.

Two TEs that don't get as much love, but I really like as true TEs and not giant slot receivers, are Dalton Schultz ( Stanford) and Tyler Conklin (Central Michigan).

My 4th rounders were Isaac Yiadom, CB, Boston College and Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky. Both were kind of pipe dreams for the 4th, I think.

I'm as baffled as anyone on where Miami is going with QB. Just a quick note, Falk's arm isn't all that strong. He can hit all throws but doesn't have a lot of zip.

When looking at the receivers Miami has and all of the intermediate level throws Gase wants to dial up at really makes sense to have a guy known for accuracy. Even Mason Rudolph excels in that area.

Both of those guys have a lot of Red Zone success and seem to put the ball where the receiver needs it. There isn't as much video of Mike White or Kyle Lauletta for comparison.

If this draft is as weak as Omar Kelly claims then I think the run on QBs will be very early. Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, Allen, Jackson and Rudolph will all probably go Round 1. Falk and Lauletta could be pushed into late Round 2. White and Benkert are still Day 3 guys for development purposes, but it wouldn't shock me to see them slip into Day 2.

I think Miami's approach is the following:

Pray Mayfield slips out of the Top 5 and trade up.

Hope Rosen slides to 11 and just pull trigger. Move up only if its a bargain price.

Consider moving up for Jackson, Rudolph or Falk in the very late 2nd Round if any are on the board, and pull trigger if any are there in the 3rd. I think all of them could start games as a rookie but may not be long term franchise guys.

Consider Lauletta and White if they slip in Round 4. Good value.

The floor will be Kurt Benkert, in my opinion. Probably not in the 4th, but Miami would consider trading into the late 5th or verly early 6th if he is still on the board and they haven't grabbed a QB.

Something to remember. Tannehill isn't going anywhere this year and it will be expensive to cut him next year. Gase likes David Fales, and Brock Osweiler is a decent enough backup at an incredibly low price. If Rosen and Mayfield are not avaiable then Miami is looking to upgrade the backup position without having to reach.

If Tannehill flops and the team is picking in the top 10 next year then you start considering who your next "franchise" hopeful should be.

The hilarity of comments coming from reporters today is beyond what I expected. The best was that Cleveland has "cooled on Darnold" in recent days. HAHA! WHAT??? You've spent months evaluating the kid and other QBs but now, right now, you have decided its time to rethink him as a possibility?

Whether its sports media or news media, when a tv microphone goes in front of a pundit's face, its getting increasingly more difficult to differentiate between the 10% fact/40% opinion/50% look-at-me people from the 80% fact/10% opinion/10% look-at-me people.

I do love the "sky is falling" as well as the "this has to happen" draft pundits.

This was via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plains Dealer. She has done a bunch for ESPN as well.

Its just amazing what they'll do to create cheap drama to drive up even .1% more interest in the draft. Its already more popular than most major sports' championship games.

I'm not sure where they are getting their information. Each team's brain-trust has locked their doors for the past week and no one is talking. Heck, even the Browns' GM isn't telling his head coach on whom he is drafting. Now that is messed up.

Darnold's face resembles Gruden's evil Chucky face. They're like twins or something. Let the Raiders trade up and take him and offer our 3rd rounder for Carr. :)

It is all coming together.

And just like Miami never met with Charles Harris last year they did not meet with Darnold this year...

And man am I going to be furious when Darnold is a Jet or a Bill.

I don't think so but I could be wrong.

1999 Draft you had QBs in the first 3 picks:

Tim Couch
Donovan McNabb
Akili Smith

Then Daunte Culpepper at 11 and Cade McNown at 12.

Its probably more realistic to see that scenario play out with Mayfield, Darnold, Allen/Rosen going 1-2-3, and Allen/Rosen and Jackson going between maybe picks 8 and 12, although I'm very skeptical Jackson goes that early.

If you aren't winning and you have a top 5 draft pick, it's time to evaluate your quarterback. Do you have a franchise quarterback?

The good things is that these quarterbacks are pushing nice defensive talent down to us.

I know I sound like a broken record but now there are tweets that the Jets want Josh Allen at 3. If Sam Darnold slips to 4 and Miami doesn't offer Cleveland a haul then I give up on them. Its one thing if you can't beat an offer from Buffalo, but if they don't even try I'll be livid.

I seriously believe he could unseat Tannehill at worst next summer. That is how you could change this franchise.

By the sounds of it,if QB needy teams are going to be trading up, most of the blue chip prospects get pushed down to the 7-11 range. I wouldn't mind trading up a few places to secure for sure one of those 5 mentioned names.

My dream would be Roquan in the 1st, Gesicki in 2nd, and Chubb in the 3rd...anything after im cool with.
