This would be a great signing and could open some things up for the draft

Woodyard is a very quick, active linebacker, solid player. Heard some rumblings about Miami being interested in Dekota Watson, as Hickey was in Tampa when Dekota was drafted out of FSU.

If Miami was interested in Dekota, they may give Woodyard a look, although I think Miami wants to possibly look at an inside LB, aka the interest in Jackson. I think they want to move Ellerbe outside.

I have read that his preference would be to re-sign with New Orleans. He is a very good pass protector, but average at best as a run blocker. Still, he would be a nice addition to the OL. I knew Miami had interest in him about a week or so.

I don't think you can trust a rookie to start. I realize Miami lucked out with Jake Long as a rookie but how many times have we seen a mid to late 1st round pick flop or get injured? Too many times to be honest.

I don't want Miami drafting for need. They have 25 million in cap space and can begin getting out of bad contracts next year so a nice signing like Strief won't put them in cap hell.

Just remember that Jonathan Martin, a supposed 1st round talent, was drafted and handed the RT spot his rookie year. He was less than average. In such a critical year you do not want a weak spot that will be exposed on a consistent basis.

I agree Jammer. Strief was ranked one of the best at his position and this team needs a strong O-line desperately, so just get the guy into Miami and plug him in from day one. If they sign him and Shelley Smith or another experienced FA that would be great.

Makes me think they can afford to possibly draft another need position at pick #19 OR if a stellar offensive lineman fell to that spot as well.

Zack Strief has declined to visit Miami. This is via Rotoworld.com. It sounds like he is close to working out a deal with the Saints, which is were he wanted to stay.

Free agent RT Zach Strief has declined to visit the Dolphins.

According to the Miami Herald, there was "no explanation given." More than likely, Strief is close to a deal with someone else. He's Rotoworld's No. 3 remaining tackle.

I think we can start a rookie at right tackle. Teams do it often.

Still 1 year stop gap options available, and two played on the team last year (Clabo, McKinnie).

A rookie might work but I'm still opposed to making it a need in the draft.

Sign a cheap starter and let him compete with rookies, Garner and Thomas. May the best man win.

Lane Johnson started at ORT tackle for Philly last year and REALLY struggled. We will see how things play out, but I would not mind a veteran signing as well. We will see.

There are young kids that have came in and performed well, aka Jake Long.

I think we can all agree that Tyson Clabo struggled last season... but his season was really a tale of two seasons. Here are his week by week grades from 2013.

Week 1, -3.8
Week 2, 0.2
Week 3 -0.3
Week 4 -3.0
Week 5 -1.9
Week 7 -3.6
Week 8 DNP
Week 9 1.8
Week 10 1.0
Week 11 1.4
Week 12 -2.7
Week 13 2.9
Week 14 0.1
Week 15 2.9
Week 16 1.8
Week 17 2.4

In the first 6 games, Clabo gave up 8 sacks and 24 pressures (1.3 sacks and 4 pressures per game)

After being reinserted against Cincinatti and for the next 9 games, he gave up 3 sacks and 17 pressures (0.3 sacks and 1.8 pressures per game).

I think this was an adjustment issue and once Clabo adjusted he performed a lot better.

I wouldn't be totally opposed to giving him another shot if nothing else pans out.

Johnson was a very good run blocker but his pass protection was pretty bad (10 sacks, 47 pressures).

The Miami Herald is reporting that Strief told the Dolphins to stick it. He's staying in New Orleans

Now Streif's agent is backtracking. Saying that his client 's heart is in New Orleans and that is the only reason he isn't entertaining offers from the Dolphins. I'm guessing it's trying to keep that avenue open in case the Saints can't come up with the cap space to pay him
