Post The draft picks and their roster consequences
Quote:
Armando Salguero

First round -- RT Ja'Wuan James.

Consquence: This one is easy because it practically guarantees that Miami will get back on track in putting its first-round pick in the starting lineup from the jump. ...

Second round -- WR Jarvis Landry

Consequence: Landry is immediately an option as a slot receiver but he will have to play special teams like the dickens to be active on game days. ...

Third round -- G Billy Turner

Consequence: ... Turner on the roster means David Arkin, Thomas, Fox, and Garner are in a scramble for a roster spot. ...

Fourth round -- CB Walt Aikens

Consequence: ... Don Jones had an awful draft. Not only did he get caught up in the Michael Sam issue, but if Aikens is a good special teams player he threatens Jones's roster spot. Veteran Jalil Brown also cannot be thrilled. ...

Fifth round -- TE Arthur Lynch

Consequence: ... Lynch's addition should worry Michael Egnew ... Dion Sims ... Kyle Miller, I see the writing on the wall ...

Fifth round -- LB Jordan Tripp

Consequence: ... This pick is immediately about special teams ...

Sixth round --WR Matt Hazel

Consequence: ... a practice squad possibility.

Seventh round -- DE Terrence Fede

Consequence: ... I suppose he is practice squad material.

How does the 5th round pick of a te say anything about simms? we need at least 3 te's, and clay and simms are two. Egnew is on the way out.

There is still a training camp competition. If Egnew worked his butt off in the offseason to become a better player and Sims rested on his laurels, it is conceivable that Egnew beats out Sims. Neither of them has done anything to this point to avoid having to compete for a job. Only Clay is on that level.

Any PFF stats or rankings on Egnew, Simms,?

I thought that Egnew had some productive plays last year.

Seems like I remember some people wanting Clay gone before last season started.
