The Miami Dolphins signed WR Stephen Williams (Jaguars) Thursday, May 15 to an undisclosed contract.

Most likely camp fodder, but a couple of yrs ago he was the star of camp for the Cards. Got hurt & has bounced around the league since. For a team that needs some size at Wr. He fits the bill.

He is 6'5". Ran a 4.53 210 Lbs.

Ha! Ha! I love that word and Miami seems to wrangle their share of these, but I understand, they are kicking the tires to try and improve the team.

How are all these scrubs going to get reps with our depth at WR? Low risk signing, most likely gone with the other scrubs we signed before the draft. If they had faith in the scrubs, they wouldn't have drafted 2 WRs. Connect the dots...

I would love for it to click for him. Miami needs to get lucky for once.

Williams has a fantastic preseason for the Seahawks and earned his way onto the team’s opening day roster last year. He caught seven passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns in the preseason and showed potential as a deep threat. He was ultimately released to make room on Seattle’s roster for Bruce Irvin, who was coming off a four-game suspension.

Williams was claimed off waivers by Jacksonville but landed on injured reserve in November. He was released by the Jaguars on Monday.

I wouldn't read too much into this signing. The Dolphins do need height at WR, but this guy isn't it.

Williams was cut by the Jaguars on Monday. A fifth-year undrafted free agent, Williams hasn't caught a pass since 2010. He's a camp body.

It's win/win for Hickey. I think he would say that he "sees opportunity".

:haha

Dolphins add receiver Stephen Williams

The Miami Dolphins continue to add to their receiving corps this offseason.

After drafting LSU receiver Jarvis Landry in the second round and Coastal Carolina receiver Matt Hazel in the sixth round of last week’s draft, the Dolphins announced the addition of veteran Stephen Williams on Thursday.

Williams has spent portions of four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars. At 6-foot-5, Williams is clearly the tallest receiving option on the Dolphins roster.

Williams has appeared in 19 games in four years with nine catches for 101 yards, all as a rookie with Arizona in 2010.

In addition, Miami announced they had signed undrafted free agent defensive back Demetrius Wright and released receiver Ryan Lankford.

I wanted the Phins to draft this guy four years ago. Finally, so lame height/speed/jump ball wide out! Hopefully he makes the squad, or impresses enough to make the 53!

Posted link to topic four years ago that has his college highlights.

Once we get rid of 1 touchdown a year hartline and matthews and gibson then let the younger hungry wrs that can truely get open and produce, as far as J. Landry goes, he will out perform hartline even if he was not hurt.
