Dolphins signed fifth-round OLB Jordan Tripp to a four-year contract. Tripp will likely have to make his mark on special teams as a rookie, but he's an above-average athlete who could potentially develop into a starter. The Montana product ran a 4.67 forty and posted a 37.5-inch vertical at the Combine.

Me, too, Henry. He had such great instincts and pursued until the whistle blew. He and JT would be on the other side of the field and still make the tackle. I see some of that in Jordan Tripp in his video clips.

Man, Dave.....what a great highlight video to watch on Zach. Brought back all those memories as I remember all of that and all of what the Dolphins used to have....hard not to hope that a guy like Tripp could come out of no where and become the game changing linebacker we all hope to get on our defense.....of course, you cannot help to think the comparison, but unfortunately at this point it is just the 5th round selection we relate to but I will say this kid does have some of those natural linebacking tendencies that Zach had and we can only hope it can translate to the NFL level.

One thing is for certain, I still miss Zach Thomas. Thanks for sharing that video.

Mike Ditka said the classic analogy about Zach Thomas....he is a rolling ball of butcher blades coming at you!!!! How classic is that comment!!!

Perfect analogy, but I think it may have been Barry Switzter that first said that about Zach.

Switzer may have and according to a Google look up he did say that as well, but I just remembered Ditka saying in the studio once making comments about Zach's play and it was a very colorful analogy coming from him and the way he appreciated hard nosed throw back football players.

Nice post EAST. We were spoiled as fans having Zach Thomas. I still remember when he beat out Jack Del Rio and seeing this stubby looking linebacker who just made a ton of sideline to sideline tackles. Throw in Jason Taylor and and it was really something. Some games with them on defense I remember them being almost unstoppable. I know it is a long time ago, but the one that stands out was the December 10th game back in 2006, Miami won 21-0 and Brady completed just 12 passes for 75 yards!

I know Omar Kelly really likes Tripp too, although he did mention that he did not look strong enough to play Middle Linebacker in the NFL, BUT, had all the extra intangibles. It will be interesting to see if this kid can shake off the bigger guys and their blocks at the point of attack. He is my fan favorite pick, but time will tell if Tripp can cut it.

That was an awesome game, JT basically took that game over and that game was a highlight in a DPOY season for JT.
