The long-awaited return of the NFL to Los Angeles is five or fewer years away, according to one NFL owner.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said today that he can “see it coming,” and that a team will move to Los Angeles — not an expansion team — soon.

“Certainly within 5 years,” Ross said, via Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal.

That team will not be the Dolphins. Ross has repeatedly said that his focus is on keeping the Dolphins in Miami and getting the necessary stadium renovations to make the stadium an attractive host for the Super Bowl and other major events.

But Ross thinks one of his fellow owners will begin the process of moving to Los Angeles soon.

Why does the NFL have all these plans for LA? They had their chances and they couldn't support NFL teams. Try a new city that wants football.

I think the NFL has this LA thing for teams to use as leverage to get thier cities to fork over cash for new stadiums.

Just my .02

LA will have a similar fanbase to Mia, win and the "fans" come out in droves. Losing and average seasons leave teams to just people like us. Hardcore fans who love the team and the media knows it, so they throw out stories like this to add insult to injury..

Like its not bad enough we are die hard fans that go to games of our loosing teams like Buff, Jax, Mia etc, they actually try and make it worse by threating to take it away because of stadium attendance.... Like we can make the ahole fairweather fans show up....

I see Jax going to LA, they have the worst attendance and still have a 1/4 of the seats in the stadium covered.

Remember Satin said,"I'm not going to Alabama"
I'll wait and see what Ross does.

The article has nothing to do with what Ross will do, it was just his opinion that another owner will take that action...

Just love how I can sift through dozens of articles from Ross and his vision for this team.. Wants to build a winning franchise. Wants to do it right here in Miami, and every plan he has proposed has that goal for long term security here.

He wants a winning team, and has no problem forking over the cash to build it. Obviously he has had some issues with putting the right people in charge of doing this, and his limited experience keeps him from doing much, actually seems to be in a bumbling idiot stage at this point with his faith in such an unqualified HC. Could be the one thing I agree with Ireland on is Philbin wasnt the right guy for the job..

But regardless of those mistakes, Ross has only seemed to want whats best for the team. And figuring it takes months for Dave to raise annual site money, I doubt we can rally the troops and buy the team. So Ross is our guy...

I will at least look at the good side in that he wants to put a winning franchise on the field, and help the South Florida sports community...

That would be too good to be true, Ross knows nothing about football but wants to be involved, this is like a really expensive hobby for Ross imo, sometimes successful people feel like they can be successful at whatever they do, but it isn't always the case.

Ross seems like a good guy, wants to win, but he has no clue and continues to be involved, recipe for disaster.

I remember the days when we were begging Wayne Huizenga to sell the team...

I was one of the few that actually liked Huizenga. Probably because I don't live in Florida.

I thought he was a great owner, he did everything you want an owner to do, he wasn't afraid to spend and he kept his nose out of it, the ideal owner, I wish he still owned the team.
