An article from the WSJ discusses how versatile defensive players like Safeties are becoming the NFL ideal...........almost like a hybrid Safety/Linebacker. Rob Ryan will play 4 safety packages with the Saints this year. I hope Coyle's paying attention..........Tripp definitely has that hybrid build; however, imagine a 3 safety set with Dion Jordan as the 3rd............giving him the ability to play Safety/Linebacker/DE.

The Future of Defense in the NFL.......Why the Saints May Have the Blueprint for Defenses to Come

I recall him in coverage vs the Saints last year on Graham... Of course they just found another outlet, but still was nice to see our rook out there covering a top TE... Graham ended up with a good game too...

Would love to have had him for week one to cover Gronk.... But he needed to focus this off season :hithead:

I would love an offensive red zone package for Jordan. He,s such a freakish athlete, take advantage of that.

Thats why Kam Chancellor is so frightening in Seattle

HEY, Chris McCain is making waves in practice. He's 6'6" 225lbs and already earning some first team reps. He also knocked Matt Hazel out, which isn't necessarily a good thing but . .ya know

I didnt know he was 6'6". Interesting. two 6'6" monsters to go with Wake, Vernon, Starks, Odrick, Misi, Grimes, Jones, Delmas.......
The defensive potential on this team is through the roof. Get your poop together Coyle and make them a great unit.

if we keep stockpiling front 7 defenders it's soon gonna be time to trade one of them for a top shelf guard or runningback.
