We aren't the only ones that think Dion Jordan should be used at linebacker.

Is Dion Jordan a possible solution at LB for Dolphins?
Nathaniel Peters-Kroll | September 15, 2014

PFF-headlinesIn his Monday presser, Miami defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle mentioned that he would not be game-planning anything specific for currently suspended DE, Dion Jordan and S, Rashad Jones in Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. It still remains to be seen whether either player will be eligible for Sunday, but upon approval of the new league drug policy, both players will be reinstated. Jones will slot back in to his safety position, but where does that leave the 2013 third overall pick?

With a strong defensive line, and a linebacking corps that is already reeling with injuries, perhaps the Dolphins should look at using Jordan to fill the void there. He was an ordinary performer when asked to put his hand in the dirt last year, but excelled in his 46 snaps dropping into pass coverage. He didn’t drop into coverage more than 10 times in any one game, but it’s notable that his three games with the most coverage snaps came against Carolina, New England, and Pittsburgh; three teams that feature their tight ends.

After Philip Wheeler was an unmitigated disaster in coverage last season (-8.2), the Dolphins should be looking high and low for a defender who may be able to stay with some of the league’s tight ends. Travis Kelce has looked every bit a top vertical threat for Alex Smith early this season, so it will be an area of concern as the Miami coaching staff sits down to prepare for Kansas City and maybe Jordan will be a potential solution.

didnt Jordan play both at Oregon? I thought that was why we drafted him because of his versatility and speed. He should be at Jason Taylor's house every single day trying to learn from the sack master! He should be coming off the edge and playing coverage. He should be like the jack of all trades and our "joker" LB.

Dion simply isn't very good. Another Ireland trade up disaster.

Jason Taylor was a starter and he had 5 sacks as a rookie. He played almost every down.

As a part time player (and I stress "part time"), he had 2 sacks. He was also injured.

Ireland moved up at a steal.

I think I'll wait before I consider him a bust.

So far Dave, it's not a steal, in a vacuum it was a good deal, but the price reflects what that team thought of Dion.

That was a draft to trade down in, not up, he'll have to improve a lot to justify a top 3 pick, he'll have to become an all pro to justify pick 12 and pick 42.

Time will tell.

Barely Used Special Teams

Hopefully all his body transitions help. It would be awesome if we used him at line backer but hell i'd just take some sacks where ever he is.

The coaching staff is clearly too stubborn. Maybe it will take a few more L's and screw ups by the linebackers this season to open their eyes.

The Miami Herald reports DE Dion Jordan will not be immediately reinstated once the NFL and NFLPA agree to a new drug policy.
Currently two games through a four-game suspension, Jordan had been reported as a player who would have his ban reduced. It suggests that, unlike Wes Welker and Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick, Jordan's positive PED test was not triggered by an amphetamine. Barring reinstatement, Jordan will be eligible to return in Week 6.

For Miami needs. Should have stayed & had the extra 2nd.

SO far he's a bust no how we want to spin it. He needs to prove us wrong.

All right ... I guess I've waited long enough. I still think he can do the job physically, but mentally he is throwing away a lot of potential.

I'm right with you Dave, it's not looking good, but it would be ill advised to dump him off after just 2 seasons of work. We can afford him taking up a roster spot with the way this defensive line is currently set up if he comes back with his head straight after his suspension. It's looking pretty grim, but I'm hoping he mans up and realizes what a unique opportunity he has in front of him.

What happens when you draft athletes instead of football players. Miami could have stayed put & took Richardson/Vaccaro & Alonso/Bell.
