Agreed.

Who would have thought back then we'd be saying that about Fiedler? Goes to show what a terrible job we've done with the QB position.

No doubt. IMO, QB is the most important position in the NFL. We should draft a QB every year or every other year and DEVELOP them slow and steady. Evetually we will hit on one, it's low risk, huge reward. We cut 3rd-7th rd picks all the time, so cut the QB in a few years if he can't hack it. Even if RT is the guy, we have trade bait to use on the OL, DL, ETC>

Agree on this.

What round was Brady drafted in? And what round did we draft Sturgis in?

Oh yeah.

I agree there.

I sure hope we've resolved that problem with Hickey. So far, so good.

Boy, this is sure a leap of faith because the jury is still out on Tannehill.

He hasn't taken this team to the playoffs yet, so the best QB since Marino is hands down Chad Pennington. I would even go out on the limb and say Scott Mitchell was better or at this point as good as Tannehill.

He played one season and couldn't throw the ball more than 15yards.

Surely you've read FINesse's posts before. He is half-joking. He used to be the most non-homer on this forum. He won several awards from the site for it.

Say what you want, but Chad Pennington won the AFC East for us and beat a Bret Favre lead team, as in the Jets.

I never wanted Pennington here in the first place, but I was proven so wrong, because he won for us.

His only knock, even with the Jets was he was a fragile QB, one of the reasons I never wanted him, but I was wrong about him as a player. He was good.

Tannehill failed to beat a bad Jets team and bad Bills team in his last 2 games, which would have put us in the playoffs last year.

If that makes RAT the best QB since Marino, than your standards are a lot lower than mine.

Thus far Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson are the Premier QB's of RAT's draft class.

Please , Penningtons arm was like a limp strand of Spaghetti. We won the division because of a gimmick play that might have ruined Chad Henne's career & also the fact that Brady was out for the season. Not to mention a pretty easy schedule. When the Patriots came her for the second time they faced us & had time to prepare for the wildcat they blew us out by 20 points.
Have patience with a QB for a change. Tannehill is the man!!

24 points is what Pennington put up in the two games prior to the wildcat. The wildcat won for Miami. Pennington contributed, but he did not win for Miami.

Yes & it still ticks me off that Miami could have picked Wilson in the 2nd Rd instead of Tanny in the top ten.

I tried to tell you all that we should have picked Tannehill in the first round and Wilson in the second round. One of them would have been our franchise quarterback. When you do not have a QB and have not had one in over a decade, you make drastic moves to insure that you do have one.

Fortunately I saw Russell Wilson play for three years at NCSU. You could see the "it factor" all over him. Despite his size, his mind was always faster than the game. He had the NCAA record for most passes thrown without an interception, and he did that his sophomore season without much of an offensive line.

Miami has generally always lacked a GM/Coach that had balls to be bold. Ireland was bold with Marshall then turned around & bailed at the first suggestion of a coach not willing to be a coach.

I recall reading an article on Wilson saying that if he were not 5'11 and just a few inches taller that we would be talking who would go 1st. Luck or Wilson.

So was Bob Griese's , but he was a winner. If I recall correctly the Patriots had the exact same record as the Jet's, Dolphins and Patriots and we won the tie breaker in AFC East. I could be wrong, so don't hold me to it, because I post a lot based on memory and recollection and make mistakes, not often, but do.

Nice find your eye found. I did not follow Russell in college, so he was not in my radar during the draft, but last year after watching him play, I felt he was really special. Amazing he won a Super Bowl only in his second year.

I looked up the 2008 schedule out of curiosity and I was wrong, the Jets could have knocked us out of the playoffs, but had they (Jets beat us) won and Patriots lost, I believe the Jets would have won the AFC East division in 2008.

My point in all of this is, an 11-5 record is pretty darn good record in the NFL.

The Patriots were an outstanding team that year, primarily because of coaching, and I don't have to mention the man who made the "hoodie" famous. He is what makes that team excel.

AFC East -2008 Final Standings
Team W L T PCT PF PA
(3) Miami Dolphins 11 5 0 .688 345 317
New England Patriots 11 5 0 .688 410 309
New York Jets 9 7 0 .563 405 356
Buffalo Bills 7 9 0 .438 336 342
