A quick look at his statistics.

Completion percentage: 65.4% - ranked 9th
Yards - 2,354 - ranked 11th
Yards Per Attempt - 6.67 - ranked 29th
Touchdowns - 17 - tied for 10th
Interceptions - 7 - tied for 17th worst
QB Rating - 92.2 - ranked 16th
Rushing yards - 261 - ranked 4th

Thoughts on where he ranks at his position?

He's a top 10 QB, as far as QBs under 30......he's only behind Luck......I'd take him over Flacco, Wilson or Ryan.

The yards per catch is a bit concerning.........it's primarily a product of him getting rid of the ball quick and a lack of that big receiver/TE to go across the middle..........and well........he can't hit Wallace deep.........though that was a pretty deep ball to a tightly covered Wallace last night.

Looks like about 10th to me

He's been looking very good as of late. I'd say top 10. I agree, I'll take him over Wilson, Flacco, Ryan, Kapernick, Locker, Dalton, ETC. I wanted Luck, but to me, Luck turns the ball over way to much. Rodgers and Manning are in a league of their own. Manning, Brees, and Brady are playing at a high level, but they are getting old.

I don't know about taking him over Matt Ryan. And Wilson is debatable too. He's looked worse without a few of his weapons and really relies on Lynch to carry the load. But Wilson finds a way to make those few key plays per game that you look for.

I think Tannehill is definitely between 10 and 15 depending on how you look at a few other QBs. Being that efficient against a really tough Buffalo defense while having a throwing shoulder injury is pretty darn impressive. Definitely silenced some criticism.

I hear you Jammer, but RT is pressured a lot and it's up to debate whether it's the OL or him or both. Ryan has a lot of weapons and he really hasn't done anything. I use to love Ryan, but I think he's peeked. Wilson does have a knack for making plays, but history shows, so does RT. I think Wilson would suck on our team.

At worst he's the 13th best quarterback currently.

Are any of the stats skewed because of the early game.

I think he's shown that if you put a team around him he can get it done. I think they're going to have to stay with the quick passing scheme now that Alberts id on IR

It's a long season and a lot can still happen.

If we don't make the playoffs - it won't mean much of anything.

Let's hope he can maintain and improve.

I am really impressed with our defense.

We could have been sitting at 8-2, which would have been good.

d-1

Omar Kelly said if he was Hickey, he would do what it takes to get Jameis Winston. He used Cam Newton as an example of a player with similar strengths and questionable behavior to support his argument. Saying drafting Cam Newton has worked well for Carolina. This guy has really gone over the deep end this year. Newton is playing terrible. The yards he's getting are scrub yards in the 2nd half.

I wonder how much Kelly gets paid? It's a good gig.....he gets to travel around and follow the Phins, plus his bosses obviously don't pay attention to his work.

Do I dare say this, but funny how Omar likes every black QB coming out. RT is a top 10 QB and we are talking about Winston? omar is funny....Cam Newton sucks btw. I loved Winston last year and would have loved to get him, but with his off field antics and his inconsistent QB play in the 1st quarter, no thanks.

Matt Lincoln, a sports caster for the CBS affiliate in Miami, has been doing video segments with Omar for the Sun-Sentinel. Lincoln's the commentary guy and Kelly's the supposed expert. It's gotten to be comical as you see Lincoln struggle to make sense of what Omar's saying.

Heres my top 10

1 Peyton
2 Rodgers
3 Brady
4 Brees
5 Rivers
6 Luck
7 Romo
8 Big Ben
9 Ryan
10 Stafford
11-15 Young QBS (Wilson, Foles, Kapernick, Dalton, Tannehill) varies depending on the week for all of them

Those are my top 10. I feel Tannehill is playing above average right now. He's right there on the cusp of being a top 10 qb but at the same time theres a lot of young qbs in the same boat Wilson, Foles, Kapernick, Dalton. As long as he keeps progressing i think he can be a Alex Smith like qb for us. His lack of a deep ball and pocket presence is what holds him back from being able to take over a game like those top 10 guys all can.

I agree Newton does suck all hes ever been able to do is run. Those hits are starting to catch up to him.

Surely if Tannehill is in the top ten, Matt Moore must be in the top 5. ;-)

I talked about this in another post. Kelly set his standards for continued investment in Tannehill. He has met and surpassed those standards so Kelly changes the rules and says its time to replace Tannehill with a 1st Round QB as he's holding the offense back.

Jameis Winston might have a fine NFL career, but look at guys like Newton and Cutler as examples of what happens to talented QBs with a sense of entitlement. I still think Newton can be good, but Cutler has wasted the prime of his career.

Heck, I think Miami should still draft a guy to push Tannehill just so he is constantly reminded that the job is earned. I'm all set with a 1st round pick on a guy who's antics will only get worse once he has a big paycheck to support them.

Our 1st round pick needs to be a solid fix to our red zone offense. Fix that and we're 19-0

That means, a smash mouth RB or a 6'5+ WR/TE.

Another thought, after watching the Texans game, do you think Jordon can catch a pass too? I mean, he plays every position on Defense, why not try the other side. That would be a Band-Aid red zone target.

He is a converted TE... Well kinda, played both TE/DE in high school, but was a TE at Oregon first. Chip Kelly put him in as full time DE..

Tannehill is currently 14th in QB rating and the few guys in front of him are Alex Smith, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton. That isn't a tough wall to climb to be ranked top 10.

Yes, however he is also very good at covering them as well... Guys like Gronk coming up. And I expect to see him shadowing Thomas this week in the red zone.

Why is that? The only anomaly is Orton because he had a weak stretch of opponents to pad his stats.

Ryan, Cutler and Smith have put up pretty good QB ratings in the last couple of years. Its not like he's looking at Locker, Bortles and Manuel.

If Tannehill gets into that crowd that is a notch below elite then you're looking at a guy who is your franchise QB. The last two QBs who won Super Bowls are in that crowd.

Because I want my cake and I want to eat it too. It should go like this:

1. Tannehill (MIA)
2. Rogers (GB)
3. Manning (DEN)
4. Brady (NE)
5. Brees (NO)
6. Doesn't matter...

So after this complete week of football his stats are

Completion percentage: 65.4% - ranked 9th
Yards - 2,354 - ranked 16th
Yards Per Attempt - 6.67 - ranked 28th
Touchdowns - 17 - tied for 11th with 2 others
Interceptions - 7 - tied for 11 or 12th in my opinion as some others on the list don't have enough attempts or starts.
QB Rating - 92.2 - ranked 14th
Rushing yards - 261 - ranked 4th

Yards Per Attempt - 6.67 - ranked 28th

I think I read that Hoyer is #1 in this category.

There are many factors impacting this number. Early in the season, there were a lot of drops, especially on some deep balls, that would have significantly boosted his YPA. And lately the Dolphins have gone to more of a quick passing game because of protection issues. So it's not just Tannehill not being good at hitting the deep ball, it's a bunch of things.

I agree, do what's working. I believe when we tried to go deep sun, he got sacked. 7 step drops are a killer with this OL.

You're crazy if you'd take RT over all of them. Especially a Superbowl winning QB like Wilson.
