I'm shocked we did not address this position via the draft...

Do we really think Fasano, Haynos or Sperry will get it done next year?

IMO the 3 of them are "good" but not great...
Fasano - he catches well but last season he fumbled and missed some big plays. Not a bad blocker
Haynos- BIG 6'7 guy that runs slower than my grandma and can't brake tackles, but catches well.
Sperry - He had a very good first season but nothing spectacular... I guess he's the guy to have an eye on next season.

Still... I miss the Randy McMichael type of TE we have lacked to get since this new staff came in... I know we just got Marshall so I'm not gonna make a big deal out of this. At least not this offseason.

Your thoughts?

I don't miss McMichael himself, but I get what you mean. A downfield threat. David Martin may come back... it appears both sides might be open to the idea.

I believe that with the acquisition of marshall our WRs became a strength of ours. We won't have to rely on 2 TE sets like we used to. Granted, Fasano had a bad year, but I think that our FO feels that the acquisition of marshall will make everybody on the offense better, including fasano. Not to mention that haynos may turn the corner this year and become the TE that we hope he can be.

I'm not as worried about TE only because they team added a true #1 WR.......with that the team may not go 2-TE quite as much as they used to? If that is the case then having the TE's currently on the roster would be just fine.

I'm actually hoping to see more 3 or 4-WR sets going forward.......adding Marshall to the team should allow for the Fins to use those formations with a lot more success than before.

IMO, Fasano started to shake off whatever was causing him to fumble and drop the ball early on.

I think his confidence was lost after a few mistakes. I think he'll bounce back....

That picture is rather disturbing... But reminds you of the type of leadership our Vet QB has....

On another note, Fasano has ability, his 2008 season was great, 7 TD's I think, a real red zone threat.. If he gets acclimated with Henne like he was with Pennington it will be a sweet red zone offense with him & Marshall...

I missed David Martin last season, that guy can catch in traffic...

I do think we need a play maker at TE. Fasano is a good blocker and a decent receiving TE but has no athleticism.
So how can you not go and get a TE that can create mis-matches for the opposing defense. I really wanted us to draft Aaron Hernandez and thought he would be the perfect fit. Why settle with what you got when we had the chance to upgrade? There was plenty of TE's in the draft with good athletic ability. No-one is saying that they would of beat out Fasano, but we should at least sign a couple to have them compete and possibly find a guy that can make some plays after the catch.

There is a chance that David Martin will be resigned, and if so, that would be a very nice pickup. Miami missed Martin ability to stretch the field.

Maybe if we didn't line up Haynos at the slot and give him screen passes us fans would actually have some confidence in him... the guy is huge... I wish he'd step up.

I have a feeling they might have waited on Tight End this year for 2 reasons.

1) Fasano is in a contract year. Everyone performs great in a contract year.

2) They might be holding out hope next offseason Vernon Davis comes to Florida to play with his little brother as he is a free agent on the market.
