Congratulations Byron Jones
UConn CB Byron Jones' 12 foot, 3 inch broad jump would have broken the world record.
We all knew Jones broke Jamie Collins' and Chris Conley's combine records (11 feet, 7 inches), but he also snapped the world record of 3.71 meters (12 feet, 2 inches) which had stood since 1968. Jones wasn't even a guarantee to work out today, as December labrum journey rendered him a "game time decision." Only cleared mere weeks ago to begin training, Jones added a 44.5-inch vertical jump. His workout was ridiculous. "I think he will be one of the best players in the country," Huskies coach Bob Diaco said last summer. "Everyone will see it eventually when they put him in those compression shorts [at combines]. You will see a tall, long, lean and fast and explosive and athletic player. His numbers, with our developmental process, you are going to see at the end of the day one of the best tangibly gifted cornerback players in the country."
