### With Caleb Sturgis losing some benefit of the doubt, the Dolphins conveyed to former Arkansas kicker Zach Hocker that he has a very fair chance to unseat him as Dolphins kicker. Sturgis made 78.4 percent of his field goals last season, which was 28th in the league.

Consistency at kicking field goals is a must.

No fun at all being a fan and you have to hold your breath on every 35 yard field goal. The mental aspect of missing is clearly IMO in Sturgis head. Time for a change. Phildo's job is truly on the line and I expect he will clean the cheese out of his ears and cut him.

Another stupid pick. He has a strong leg, but seems to have quickly lost his accuracy mojo. Of course, coaching could,be a factor too.

Ireland got cocky/greedy when he released Carpenter for Sturgis. He & Parcels made a successful move in 2008, when they released Feely, one of the best kickers in the league at that time, for Carpenter. The Parcels montra must be to never pay for a kicker. Didn't pay off this time.

In fairness to Caleb, he missed missed only one kick under 40 yds, going 20 for 21. Over 40 is where he struggles, going 9 for 16. He's got the leg, something happens to him psychologically, when the posts get further.

Let him stay for one more year. If he shows more of the same inconsistencies, cut him loose in the offseason and draft Roberto Aguayo.

Majority of Miami fans wanted Carpenter replaced because he missed 50+ yd FGs.
