Seems more likely now that Wallace will stay. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pair him with one of the elite physically gifted receivers in the better half of the 1st round.

Another $3.2 million off the books.

Not sure how much came off with Hartline gone as they have not announced whether he is designated a June 1st cut.

We'll see. Would like to see him stay and add pieces around him and Juice.

I figured. So the cap savings for Hartline will be about $3 million as well.

Absolutely. If Wallace is released though, you better hope Hickey has his guy in free agency. No way do I see Hickey repeating the same brutal mistakes Ireland made.

This tweet from Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post

#Dolphins still take $4.2 million cap hit on Hartline, but they clear $3.2 mil and he's off the books after season http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachpost. ... -hartline/

Releasing Wallace would make zero sense. We don't save a lot in cap space versus the dead cap hit we would take.

If you could trade him for something that gets you in position to move up for one of the top receivers in the draft, then it makes sense.

Not even close. Ireland put the Dolphins in a hole with those signing from 2013.

The two moves clear $6.4 million in salary cap space for the Dolphins, who were less than $3 million under their projected adjusted salary cap for the 2015 season.

So now we're $9 million under and still have the following deadweight contracts taking up cap space:

Dannell Ellerbe - $5.65 million savings
Cortland Finnegan - $5.475 million savings
Randy Starks - $5 million savings
Earl Mitchell - $4.5 million savings
Phillip Wheeler - $3 million savings (if designated June 1st)
Shelly Smith - $2.75 million savings
Nate Garner - $1.65 million savings
Dallas Thomas - $458K savings

By dumping all of these guys, the Dolphins could create north of $35 million in cap space.

Additionally, here are some players that could be cut or restructured, even if they aren't dead weight.

Cameron Wake - $7.65 million savings
Mike Pouncey - $7.438 million saving
Koa Misi - $2.7 million savings

Man...we better hope Dion Jordan starts contributing big time. Father Time is nipping at Wake's heels and we will need a pass rusher!

With all the possible moves being made on the Dolphin's roster, this starts looking more like a rebuilding project. Why the heck did they leave Phildo in place? The turnover is not likely to produce a winning season or playoffs, so you would suspect Philbin is a goner after 2015.

Do you believe Mitchell, Thomas, & maybe Garner are worth keeping though?

I like Finnegan but 5.5MM . . . can not say its justifiable to keep him

They'd have to be extremely confident in AJ Francis and Anthony Johnson to get rid of both Starks and Mitchell. Plus they'd have to be certain Odrick is coming back.

Outside of Finnegan, my guess is the Hickey guys get a pass. I could see Mitchell and Smith surviving. Perhaps Delmas gets to come back.

Yeah pouncey definitely needs to be redone. 7 million im not ok with
Another guy is brandon fields. He was not very good last year and his contract is pretty big considering what he does.
Matthews and landry can easily take over for hartline and gibson. We cant let wallace go, though.

You'd think they'd be wise enough to do exactly that. I mean could you imagine his speed along with a legitimate athlete who can go up and get balls, particularly in the redzone ...... and then you have Landry carving it up from the slot with YAC?

They'll f*** it up though.

He is the 6th highest paid center.....I could see if you are worried about investing in him because of troubles he has been involved with but he is surely worth short term 7 million per
