Remember, Kevin Coyle strongly implied after the season that the Dolphins cannot go into next season counting on Jamar Taylor or Will Davis as starters. And waiting until the draft to find a starting cornerback to pair with Brent Grimes would be risky.

That's a shme, two high picks that didn't pan out and one of them almost quit. Can we at least bat .500?

I'm still holding out hope that Jamar Taylor takes another step forward this year. Still, counting on him to hold the starting position is very risky.

I bet Taylor gets a shot to be the nickel CB. Sounds like Jimmy Wilson will have suitors in FA.

Bring Brandon Flowers back home. He went to my high school.

I actually like Davis better, but the coaches didn't. I believe the stats say that Davis played better, but our coaching staff sees it differently.

We had two capable starting corners that were poorly coached. They are now blossoming elsewhere while we sunk two more high draft picks into the position

Instead of drafting a CB every year (which I don't mind if you're taking a 5th rounder to be your nickel next year), why not find someone who can actually evaluate players at that position, then find someone who knows how to coach the position. Seems like it would be a lot cheaper and a lot quicker to fix.

Kareem Jackson is apparently the primary target

IIRC, Sean Smith was asking $10m a year from Ireland the weeks prior to his contract expiring. There isn't a GM with his head on straight that would have brought him back anywhere near those numbers. He was underwhelming the majority of his time here when you compare his performance to his contract demands. He wasn't going to stay in Miami. Let it go.

Vontae Davis is an entirely different story. Much better player, and left under more bizarre and unexpected circumstances.

I'm fairly certain that every team in the league has one of those guys...they're specialists, and I believe they are called scouts and General Managers. Just because Miami has relatively failed with the actual process, it doesn't mean they are the exception in not having those guys on the payroll. That makes no sense...

Good. You need a solid group of corners. Grimes with Jackson, taylor and Davis is a solid group.

At least Miami got rid of V. Davis to get one of those high picks.

I admit, that was a mistake trading him, he grew up. Ireland and company should have worked harder with him and coached him not to drink before meetings ETC.

I'm surprised Revis isn't listed.

Unfortunately Coyle needs Albert Einstein with the athletic ability of Sherman to be sufficient in his defense. Furthermore, when has this guy ever evaluated a player that ended up being a good thing for Miami?
