While Kyle Wilson was a fine value in the first round for the Jets, I contend that they would have preferred to have taken Jared Odrick with that selection. Odrick went one pick before to Miami and something tells me that Bill Parcells decided that he would rather play with Odrick than against him twice a year.

I heard some NY beat writers talking about the exact same thing a week ago.

No chance this guy came to us just to avoid him going to the Jets... He was either on the board or he wasnt.

Miami had a chance to work with Jared at the Senior Bowl, and that had a lot to do with Miami making him there selection at that point.

Jets may have wanted him, but I doubt that any picks were made to keep another player away from a team. The Dolphins needed to be concerned about filling there own needs, much less worrying about what the Jets are going to do.

We all know the Dolphins don't even do their own scouting. They actually scout other teams to see who they want and then pick those guys.

It's a good thing we use the Jets scouts. If we used the Broncos scouts we wouldn't have traded down but drafted Tebow right at #12;)

They didnt do much scouting... Just used all the picks on the Senior Bowl guys :ann0y:

But I did hear from a source that they would have took Tebow if Denver didnt, that way the Jets, Bills and Pats wouldnt have him...

We've got Odrick, and the Jets probably have another first round bust like Vernon Gholston!

They used moved Gholston to DE, but they aren't expecting much. He isn't a DE in a 3-4 defensive scheme.

He was a D linemen in college that transitioned to OLB for the Jets... He is a bit too big for that spot, but seems a bit to small for DE in a 3-4... He will flourish somewhere, just another example of why you shouldn't draft 4-3 defensive linemen for a 3-4 system...

I agree but all things being equal if it was close between Odrick and another player and you knew that the jests had a super hard-on for this guy and they were picking one pick after you. Maybe that was the deciding factor that pushed Miami to take him.
