Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder executed advanced retrieval techniques, and quarterback Chad Henne demonstrated coaching potential. Meanwhile, guard Donald Thomas' performance was ably backed up by his extremely cute boxer puppy, Dozer.
The three were among 14 Dolphins players who conducted a fishing clinic Monday afternoon for 18 youngsters from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County in the pond outside the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach. The odds of catching were stacked heavily in favor of the players and their young protégés. IGFA staffers recently stocked the pond with 500 freshwater fish, including largemouth bass, Mayan cichlid, bowfin, catfish and gar.
Kids and players were given fishing rods, live worms, bread balls and artificial lures. Then they hit the pond.
