i dont understand. he threw the ball so well in college, now all of a sudden he has lost it? i mean i can understand if he isnt learning the pro style offense as quickly or reading nfl coverage right away, but not throwing like he did in college? weird
Throwing the ball to a receiver that has 4 steps on a guy versus throwing to a receiver that has a half step on a guy are two different things. The guy also never had to drop back....he was in the shotgun virtually the entire time, and even when he did take shotgun snaps, he was rolling right, left or taking off for a run....his footwork was never there from a drop back stand point.
Defensive lineman are shorter in college than in the NFL. Offensive lineman are shorter in college....so your viewpoint of the field is shifted, and at 6'0" that can become a problem. The only quarterback I've ever seen overcome that sort of height like it was nothing is Drew Brees....he's an anomaly on just about every account though....a spread quarterback, 6'0", torn shoulder, etc.
Bottom line, Pat White is dealing with footwork, throwing angles, viewpoints, speed of the game, and the pressure of being the first "Wildcat quarterback"
