Lil Zach T who's not so little anymore is now training in Michigan.

I couldn't go today because of work so my wife took him.

They did 40 testing today and he ran 4.7

Just wondering how that stacks up. He's 13 and in grade 8.

That's an incredible time for someone that age. I ran a 4.9 in 9th grade and that was considered fast. He has 4 years to knock 3 tenths of a seconds off his time and that would be considered elite speed.

Of course it also depends on what position he is playing. Some positions will require him to bulk up and that may hinder some running pace.

We're talking about a 13 year old.

Yes. I coached 11-13 year olds and I'll stand by my post. I had 13 year olds run 4.5 range. But they were DBs, RBs, WRs.... Granted they were the exception. But I think he was trying to get a perspective on how exceptional Zach Jr is. I had a 13 year old, 6'1, 182 and ran just under a 4.5. Best athlete I've been around at that age.

I've seen too many 13 year olds that were running 4.7 - 4.9 be able to run sub 4.5 when they were 15-17 to believe your above statement. At 13, they aren't anywhere near finishing their development...

You must have been using a slow clock... or a sun dial....

I stated he was the best athlete I ever coached and already stated this is exceptional. Additionally stated that NFL MLB ZT ran a 4.7. Also, while you are correct about measurement (handheld digital stops are always off) we did try and adjust by doing a best of 3 with average. Whether you believe it or not, is irrelevant.

Actually, your input into the thread is irrelevant because it's not based in reality. The NSCA has published 40 times by age and less than 1% of 13 year old males in the U.S. run below a 5.12 40 yard dash. And yet you had more than one 13 year old running 4.5 or less.

So either you got extremely lucky or... you don't know how to use a stop watch.

Yeah..... exactly ONE.

You had more than one. Somehow... miraculously.

One someone thought worthy enough to have made a video of. Here's the deal, I wasn't even coaching in a competitive league. It was an inner city instructional league.
