Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said third-rounder Leonte Carroo was the second-ranked receiver on their draft board.
Despite having three quality starters at receiver, the Dolphins traded three picks including third- and fourth-rounders next year to move up for Carroo in the third round. The price tag speaks to how highly Miami valued the Rutgers product, and it makes it likely he is given a fair shot to unseat Kenny Stills as the No. 3 receiver. With good speed and elite ball skills, Carroo could end up being one of the steals of the draft.

I am going to assume they were looking for a specific type which allowed them to narrow the board to system and team needs.

Rotoworld and PFF ranked him very high among receivers.
He scored a ton of TDs and barely dropped anything

Rotoworld's Josh Norris lists Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo (ankle) as the No. 58 overall prospect in the NFL Draft.
"Makes difficult catches on a consistent basis," Norris wrote. "Defenses knew he was the only receiving threat on the team, yet Carroo still produced at a very high level. Knows how to create slivers of separation at the catch point. Has played both outside and in the slot." Carroo, still trying to kick a nagging ankle injury that forced him out of the Senior Bowl and apparently hampered him at the Combine, says he'll run routes for NFL teams at his pro day on March 31.

Quote:
Pro Football Focus grades Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo as a first-rounder.
It's a stunningly optimistic projection. PFF is as high on Sterling Shepard as anybody -- calling him a first-round talent -- but even Shepard is behind Carroo in the site's receiver rankings, as are both Michael Thomas', Tyler Boyd, Will Fuller, Braxton Miller and a host of others. "When breaking down Carroo’s tape, it at times felt like you were watching two completely different players," Gordon McGuiness wrote. "When fully healthy he was up there with the best receivers in this class, but the drop-off when he was coming back from injury was severe. Despite that, he still managed to force seven missed tackles on 39 receptions in 2015, and had an impressive one-handed grab in his final game of the year against Maryland to add some wow factor." For the record, PFF ranks Carroo as the No. 4 receiver behind usual suspects Corey Coleman, Josh Doctson and Laquon Treadwell.

The kid is big, physical and has very good hands, a hands catcher. His speed, which is good, not great speed and an off the field incident help push him down.

He has an Anquan Boldin quality about him, only faster. If he a portion of what Boldin was, Miami has got them a nice football player.

I posted about Miami interest in him during the process, but I like a lot of other folks did not know Miami would take multiple WR's.

If true, I think you have to question their draft board. Of course its all guess work anyway and if he makes the team and plays its a win. NO got rid of Stills for a reason.

If he turns out to be the 2nd best receiver taken in this class, do you still question the draft board?

I like the pick.. He also reminds me of Boldin. Having 3 WR's who can go get the ball is something I love.. Via Length in Parker.. Sheer will and talent in Landry and muscle in Carroo. I also love that we have a back in Ajayi who has nice hands.. versatility in the draftees. If the offensive line performs. We could have a really dynamic offense. Mismatches.. Tannehill doing what he does well in running the hurry up. I hope we can give the Defense a lead often so they can pin their ears back.

Also.. I keep thinking every time he scores... I can hear the crowd going Carroooooooooooooo! Would be awesome.

Not crazy about the price, but hopefully he will provide some quality plays.

RotoWorld had him as their 3rd best WR in this draft class. The price sounds steep until you see a couple receivers picked before him were first round picks. Hopefully we'll see this play out for us as a good draft pick for us.

I love that they went BPA over need and got their guy even though they already had a crowded receiving core. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Parker is the 1 for sure... Landry is the slot...
Then we had Matthews, Stills, and Jennings.... 2 of them are gone...

BPA..... This looks like the really felt he was a good value... You gotta think they would rather another position but he was too good to pass on.

I think it will be the most watch draft pick in the early going.

Nothing against him, he was a good player, his only gripe was he wanted more playing time. Maybe under utilized/developed by a clown coaching staff like many others.

I wasnt losing any sleep when he went to FA tho, felt we ccould find his replacement rather easily, and it appears we may have upgraded the position..

Leonte's tough style of football reminds me of receiver Steve Smith of the Ravens.

I think this guy is going to get open and make plays.

If the O-line actually blocks, then Tannehill should deliver big. If he doesn't, then I think the team has an escape planned in his contract. I hope he gets it done though, because QB's are so hard to find.

Deliver big? What expectation is that gonna be?

What if he stays the same...30 tds 14 int 4000 yds? Because that's what he has been and got paid.....And will get paid by another team to do that..
Are you gonna cut him if he stays the same?
Or is the escape if he gets worse?

Nothing less than 8000 yards, 85 TDs and 3 INTs will be accepted.

We will be in the superbowl if he plays the same, he is top 10 in passing yards and that is all there is to it...

I am more worried about W's against the living...teams with winning records, or at least divisional opponents. Perhaps a playoff appearance?

Every play on offense goes through the QB's hands. He is supposed to be the leader. If the blocking is there, then it is time for the O...and the QB...to sustain drives and put up points. With all the focus on getting Tannehill new weapons, I suspect we will see that happen.

And if he has 30 TD's 14 into.... You cut him?

Prove it deal..... what does he have to prove to you? That can take the 28 th defense to the playoffs?
