12. MIA - Laremy Tunsil has ankle issue

Source: BleacherReport.com - Jason Cole

Miami Dolphins OT Laremy Tunsil (ankle) has a pre-arthritic ankle condition that may have contributed to his draft-day fall, according to sources. Some believe the condition may even be worse than Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack's knee issue.

That's a tough note to hear, especially if you're a Miami Dolphin fan. We still haven't had firm confirmation of this, nor how it might impact his ability long and short term, but it bears watching.

I thought the same thing with McDuffie and OG, a toe, really? I hope this ankle thing is nothing serious, if it is, it's another disaster within this team.

Not a problem if its true. Just once again trying to diminish the best pick in the draft.

If Miami Dolphins doctors say it is OK, I trust them. O_O

Isn't this strange to just now hear about this? Based off that alone there can't be much truth to this can there?

Regarding report that Tunsil had bad ankle, was told by two teams that he checked out fine

This is the first time I have every heard of any SO CALLED issue with Laremy's ankle. No issues at the Combine or anywhere else.

I've broken my ankles multiple times and it never effected me playing all kinds of sports. Ankles are resilient.

Me too Swerve. I've got a lot more problem with my rotator cuff issues than my ankles, and I've broken both of them.

Lol. We sound alike. I got the rotator problems too from years of bench press.

Here's more information. Obviously, the Dolphins were angered with the ankle story.

Larry Brown wrote:
It was also noted that not only was there zero talk about a concern regarding Tunsil’s ankle, but also that he was not asked to return to the combine for a second physical, which is often a sign of lingering concern over an issue.

So what is the source of this report? There is speculation that someone with a team may be floating it to cover his rear to avoid getting heat for passing on the talented Ole Miss product.

Very hard for a "soft" joint like an ankle to be arthritic. there isn't much of a joint there. Mostly just ligaments. I suppose the meniscus could get worn out but he is really young for that.

wrists I understand due to the number of bones. Ankles....I would think that would show up in the knee years before the ankle

That'd be really freaky for someone to have a worn meniscus in their ankle... :headscratch

This is from ProFootballTalk.com. My personal feeling on this is it is pure BS. Teams are now embarrassed for passing Tunsil and are trying to create an issue. Gutless and pure garbage.

Pre-draft process raised no concern about Laremy Tunsil’s ankle
Posted by Mike Florio on May 20, 2016, 12:43 PM EDT
CHICAGO, IL - APRIL 28: (L-R) Laremy Tunsil of Ole Miss walks on stage after being picked #13 overall by the Miami Dolphins during the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University on April 28, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Jon Durr/Getty Images) Getty Images

The Dolphins have said both privately and publicly that there were no concerns prior to the draft about tackle Laremy Tunsil’s ankle. There also were no private or public concerns about Tunsil’s ankle among league insiders before the draft.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, no issues were raised directly or indirectly about Tunsil’s ankle in the weeks and months before the draft. At a time when every inch of every player’s body and background is poked and prodded, if there was a problem with Tunsil’s ankle, somebody would have said something to Tunsil or those who represent his interests before the draft. That simply didn’t happen.

It’s possibly happening now, as pointed out last night, because one or more teams who passed on Tunsil are now having regrets about the decision. On one hand, the Dolphins may have been picking at the spot in round one (No. 13) where the need for a left tackle intersected with the availability of sufficient time to process the gas-mask-and-bong-video that emerged not long before the draft. On the other hand, the teams that passed on Tunsil could have quickly come to the conclusion that plenty of guys smoke weed, and that video evidence of Tunsil doing it shouldn’t matter.

So if Tunsil becomes a great player, those who passed on him will need to be able to point to something more tangible than a cloud of smoke as the reason for not taking him. And now those seeds have been planted, with the news that Tunsil has a pre-arthritic condition in his ankle.

Yep. Every team knows they got schooled by the Dolphins and are now trying to cover their butts.
Cannot wait for this season to start already but with how good this off season has been really dint mind to see it continue either.
