This guy has as good a rep when it comes to reporting inside Dolphin football as anybody. Hopefully they find a way. I hope it doesn’t come down to $14/yr though.

Don't sleep on Miami trading Landry to Cleveland for Deshone Kizer and a mid round pick. I could see Tannenbaum doing something bold like that.

Kizer has shown what so far? That would be a horrible trade IMO.

Same could be said for Jarred Goff after his 1st year. He was a bust under Fisher.

Kizer made some very good throws and showed improvement as the year progressed. Not his fault that Hue Jackson stinks and handled the QB situation poorly. Let him sit behind Tannehill, work on his mechanics and study habits. He has as much ability as any QB in this class outside of the Big 4.

I can't see it. I didn't think Kizer was NFL starting material after watching him at Notre Dame.

Landry and Miami is a good fit. He has chemistry with Tannehill who will have a big year and win comeback player. Miami is close. Landry knows that as well. A little compromise will go a long way here.

That's fine, but if Cleveland takes a QB number 1 overall and signs a vet (we know they were in on an Alex Smith trade) then Kizer is very expendable. I'm not looking at it from a "what I would do" angle but rather how Miami can maximize value.

The whole Jarvis Landry thing is chaos. If the team can get two mid round players for him which is the pick I mentioned plus a QB who is as talented as any guy after the Big 4, then you haven't spent additional resources to address the position.

How does Miami feel about a bigger role for Jakeem Grant? Do they think Isaiah Ford and Leonte Carroo can fill a void in terms of number of catches? These things will factor in on such decisions.

Darlington is more plugged in than any of us combined so perhaps this is all just empty talk.

This could well be step one of a tag-and-trade deal.

I’ll put it bluntly. I would never gamble big chips on a jack of all trades, black QB. They have a horrible track record outside of Wilson. Especially this early in Kizer’s career. I wish him nothing but success, him and Watson, but give me the protypical pocket passer. If he’s not there, find someone else.

Has anyone considered the possibility of T Hill being traded? Coming off the ACL I would believe outside of his rookie season, his value would be at a career low.

Guys, I'm not saying Kizer is the heir apparent, but you need someone who can be a backup at the very least. Kizer does not project as a long term starter, but he can be a good backup and spot starter. Miami does not have that so they need to either sign someone or trade for someone.

To get that type of player AND an additional pick in this year's draft (as opposed to spending another pick) is the type of move that improves your roster and draft capital. Heck, use the acquired pick on a mid round QB to double down if you so choose.

No rookie in this class will be ready to take meaningful snaps Day 1 outside of maybe Rosen if he's healthy. Kizer has seen real NFL play and thrown some nice balls against an NFL defense.

Making this trade does not prevent Miami from drafting a QB. Its more about using Landry to improve your roster for the future.

Does anyone still have confidence in Tannehill?

I think the team does to an extent. We haven't seen the guy throw a pass in a game since December 2016. All of the talk now is about the new shiny toys in the draft so of course everyone wants that.

I believe Gase wants to see it thru with Tannehill, for better or worse. But now that we're in the post season and dissecting college players you can't deny that the guys at the top of the draft are more talented QBs (except Allen who is just a more talented "thrower") than Tannehill coming out of college. He'll beat them in 2018 but their ceilings are higher.

If the team really stinks and Gase is fool's gold then don't bother because another young QB will just be ruined.

Actually, I do. And while this off season plays on, it's easy to get caught up in all the hype on the QBs. Of the big four in the draft, Mayfield is the only one I would trade up for, and quite honestly, the only I would take with a first rounder pick. They compare him to Russel with a little Farve mixed in.

Josh Allen compares favorably to Rothlisberger, if you can fix his mechanics and his head. Kiser is practically his clone.
Josh Rosen compares to Eli Manning, which makes him a huge no for me.
Sam Darnold compares to Andrew Luck, but needs development. Meaning, he might not.

Cousins and Tannehill are about the same, so why change?

Personally, I'd rather roll with Tannehill and draft a playmaker on defense with 1-11. Roquan Smith, Derwin James or Marcus Davenport.

Right now, I'd say if Mayfield or Rosen fall in our laps at 11, take him and develop him behind RT for a year and see where it goes. If not, take one of the second tier guys in the 2nd - 4th rounds and go with my Best Player Available philosophy in round one, and BPA in a position of need in rounds 2-4 and (including QB) and then just fill out the roster.

If we trade up to grab a QB, it had better be Darnold, b/c I wouldn't want to spend the capital on any of the others personally.

If one of those QBs in the draft falls to us I can see taking him as well. But any of those free agent QBs or even those on the trading block ... I would stay with Tannehill. I think if Tannehill went to a Minnesota or Jacksonville we would kick our selves for getting rid of him. Even if he played for a team like Cleveland , given time we might still be sorry. I wish he was better diagnosed and played this past season. We would at least now know where we stand at the most important position.
