Cut a guy you've put a substantial investment in before it pays off, just to get a million or two in cap relief this year? Now that would a stupid move, considering he has done well for us. So would be paying a slot receiver 16 million a year.

Well if we are losing Landry and Tannehill.

It would make more sense financially to wait until next year to cut him. Hopefully he will cooperate and restructure. 1/4 of their cap is tied up in the defensive line.

Well, when you go out in free agency and pay unheard of money for a player, you expect immediate results. Teams definitely do not plan going beyond the third year of a contract like Suh's without a restructure (Suh expected this as well after signing the contract) or cutting outright.

Still, when you see the dead money, you have to wonder if cutting Suh at any point is such a good idea this year. Can the Dolphins pay $9.1 million for a huge hole in the middle ... and then add to that by having to add a cheaper DT alternative in free agency?

Thank you Dave for that. As a fan, you may not like this signing. You may argue he hasn't been worth it. I can see the arguments either way. But cutting him at this point makes no sense. Especially when they go out and add Quinn to make this DL even more formidable on paper. Suh and his contract is not the reason this team isn't winning.

And even though I think Pouncey is on his last legs, I'd rather ride him one more year then cut him and add one more hole to the team.

Most of the roster can be purged after 2018 with minimal financial impact...

Can see the difference here by comparing 2018 to 2019...

This is a do or die season for many people employed by the Dolphins...

Or I could be wrong:

Quote:
They are trying to extend Ndamukong Suh. If This attempt bears no fruit, they will indeed seek to cut him. There is little chance for a trade.

Quote:
- Chris Grier considers Da'Ron Payne a potential signature player, in the very same vain as a Suh, Donald, Watt, Miller etc... Payne could be his target, even if Suh is still here.
