Without Timmons, Thomas, and James it’s around 160 million.

Better production than Branch. Better than what they have now.

You don't know what you have with Branch yet, he spent half the season hurt. It was either Vernon or Suh, and Suh can provide inside pressure that QB's hate.

As for Landry, I'll take Stills and Grant any day, we'll be more explosive. Drake will take some of that production anyway because Gase loves throwing to RB's. Addition by subtraction.

Branch is going into his seventh season so what are you talking about? You can get the same production from Matthews as Stills at half the price. It didn’t have to be suh or Vernon I just put the roster in front of you.

I'm sure there are folks on the Giants' Forums screaming about how bad the Vernon signing was. They paid him $29M cash in '16, $12M cash in '17 and are due to pay him $13M cash in '18 or take a $12 M cap hit.

In his 2 years with the Giants he has 3 forced fumbles and 15 sacks. For an average of $20.5M/year the guy got 7.5 sacks and 1.5 forced fumbles. Talk about bad signings.

Look, I understand your frustration, I really do. But I don't think our problems stem from refusing to overpay average to good players that haven't made us viable playoff contenders. Nor is it the FO bringing in cheaper average to good players to replace them. We have a culture and leadership problem.

Nobody in their right mind would take Quinn, Branch, and Stills for 31 million over Vernon, Landry, and Matthews for 37 million. They didn’t want to overpay Clay, fine. They haven’t been able to adequately replace him since. Not fine. If they don’t want to overpay their best players then why are they overpaying mediocre players. It is a FO problem. Clearly.

I agree ggippo that it is a FO problem. I'm not sure how I feel about your comparison though. I think Stills has been very productive; I take him over Matthews. The real question is which Quinn do we have? The pro bowl version? Or the injured less productive one? Jury's out for me.

I'm okay with losing Miller. Ajayi and Drake have been plenty productive and a lot cheaper. You're right though that we haven't found an adequate replacement for Clay, even though he's not worth what Buffalo is paying him either.

The real problem is that we don't extend good players when they can do it for a reasonable price.

Stills can continue to carry the offense...And with Thill coming back we will make up for not having those guys.

First problem for the dolphins. Stills is the best receiver. Second problem. Nobody threatening to take away underneath coverage. Not so easy for stills to take the top off a defense without that.

When did stills ever carry the offense?

Stills might be more productive than Matthews. But getting similar production from a player for half the price is how you keep your stars.
