Retirement a "toss-up" for Jason Ferguson
Quote: Miami Dolphins nose tackle Jason Ferguson says he hasn't yet decided whether he'll return for a 2010 season during which he'll turn 36 years old.
Ferguson told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that it's a "toss-up" whether or not he'll play again. Ferguson will be an unrestricted free agent, but given his age and the quadriceps injury that landed him on injured reserve in November, he wouldn't likely have many suitors.
Ferguson says he doesn't want his decision-making process to restrict the Dolphins' off-season plans.
"I don't want to hold them up," he said.
Ferguson played from 1997 to 2004 for the Jets, from 2005 to 2007 with the Cowboys and 2008 and 2009 with the Dolphins. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -ferguson/

well we need pick a DT regardless of he stays or goes, but it sure would be nice to have him here with all of the experience he can lend to a young guy.

Would it be so bad if we had 3 NT's on the roster? Soliai, Ferguson, and a rookie?

(No pun inteneded.....) NT? I would say LB... any type... OLB or ILB I agree with Henry. Part of the reason we struggled at ILB is because of our injuries and deficiencies at NT. Give any inside backer a great NT and their level of play will elevate. Best example I can think of off the top of my head would be the resurgence in Ray Lewis's career once Haloti Ngata arrived in Baltimore. Prior to that, some people were questioning whether Ray-Ray could still play much longer.... once Ngata arrived all those questions disappeared very quickly. A monster NT is essentially an ILB's best friend.

Gotta agree we need to find a NT this year. Best case scenario is we find a diamond in the rough later in the draft and address other needs with our higher picks.

I don't think we can go another year without addressing the NT position. Ferguson was just a 2 year band-aid.

A Fergy/Cody rotation would be pretty nice for a year.
