Miami Dolphins rookie linebacker A.J. Edds had his torn anterior cruciate ligament repaired today by Dr. James Andrews, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Sou ... n-ACL.html
"The surgery was awesome," the source told National Football Post. "He should have a good rehab ahead of him."
The fourth-round draft pick from Iowa tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, but there wasn't other damage that would trigger an elongated rehabilitation period.
A standout linebacker in the Big Ten Conference at Iowa, Edds played in the Senior Bowl.
Edds was named second-team All-Big Ten Conference last season and was a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection.
Last season, he recorded 78 tackles and five interceptions and 4 1/2 tackles for losses.
As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten. He posted 59 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries.
The Dolphins traded up to acquire the Dallas Cowboys' pick to select Edds.
The Dolphins traded their fourth-round pick (No. 126) and their sixth-rounder (179th overall) to draft Edds 118th overall.
