Dolphins hired former Lions and Colts head coach Jim Caldwell as assistant head coach/QBs coach. Caldwell was up for a number of head-coaching jobs this cycle, but came up empty after interviewing with the Browns, Cardinals, Jets and Packers. The 64-year-old was never a difference-maker in stints with Detroit and Indianapolis, but his wealth of experience could be valuable to first-time head coach Brian Flores. In addition to Caldwell, Patrick Graham was brought on as Miami's defensive coordinator while former Patriots WRs coach Chad O'Shea will coordinate the offense. Other Dolphins hires include Josh Boyer (pass-game coordinator/CBs coach) and Danny Crossman (special teams coordinator).

I didn’t want him as head coach but I like this role for him.

Absolutely A-ok with Caldwell in this role.

He has a very good offensive mind. Great move by Flores as he hired a first time OC in O'Shea. If O'Shea doesn't mind someone stepping on his toes at times, this is kind of like having a sharp mind like Belicheat overseeing the offense but allowing someone else to run it. That's the dynamic that the Patriots have with their defense.

Also, I am hearing positive things about this hire:

Seems Flores is a great multi tasker as well.
Putting together 2 great things at the same time.
Single handedly installing a game plan to shut down what might be the leagues most potent offense and winning a super bowl and also putting together what could possibly be the best staff in the league.
I think a veteran FA QB can step in here and win this season.
