Here's the link to a simulator. There may be better ones out there, who knows. Let's keep it fairly simple for everyone and just do a 3 round simulator. Post a screenshot or a copy / paste of your results. Also, don't be lazy, see if you spot anything interesting that happened that allowed you to snag someone you didn't expect to be there or, someone went early you would have targeted!

OK, I took a stab at it. I'm not a guru like Jammer of jgod, but I do study the players a bit.

An good argument could be made to draft WR Denzel Mims, C LLoyd Crushenbury, or OT Josh Jones at pick 39, but I really like S Grant Delpit as BPA.

Breaking news. New criteria.

If you select Tua, you lose.

Fired.

Joe Burrow falls to me at #5. I take his favorite WR at 18 and round out the 1st round with the last third of the new triplets in Miami. In the 2nd round, I get bookend tackles to protect my QB and in the 3rd round I get him a physically talented tight end that needs some good coaching.

All offensive picks to complimented the new defense.

5 Joe Burrow, QB
LSU

18 Justin Jefferson, WR
LSU

26 D'Andre Swift, RB
Georgia

39 Josh Jones, OT
Houston

56 Lucas Niang, OT
TCU

70 Adam Trautman, TE
Dayton

FIRE UP THAT SCOREBOARD BOYS, WE'RE ABOUT TO SCORE SOME POINTS!
I did a mock not too long ago where I went offensive heavy, different players but it was fun!

Try PFN's new simulator. Its free, has trading ability and I like the player rankings better.

Also, the computer simulates trades so you can lose out if a team jumps you.

I think Rich wins Amateur GM of the Year with his draft. That is a thing of beauty.

Fanspeak.com is a good draft site as well, as you can pick from a bunch of draftniks' big boards, including Matt Miller's, Walter Football's, and the CBS Sports Composite List to draft from. They update the lists regularly. Miller's changes every week.

Oh, and IND jumped up to #3 to nab Tua in that draft above.

I seriously think Herbert and Love are taken in the top 15. I can't take a draft seriously if we can grab either of them with our 2nd pick in the first round.

If you want to see Pittman's potential ceiling, check out the USC vs. Utah game. OMG. The most impressive receiving performance in a while for me. And against that defense too.

I just ran it again I'm not sure this one would be very realistic. But it would be a very nice draft for us.

5 Tua Tagovailoa Alabama QB

18 Jedrick Wills Alabama OT

26 Andrew Thomas Georgia OT

39 J.K. Dobbins Ohio State RB

56 Lloyd Cushenberry III LSU IOL

70 Michael Pittman Jr. USC WR

I offered a trade of our 5 and 56 to Jacksonville for their 9 and 20. They accepted. Those first five players should improve our offense considerably.

9. Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
18. Mekhi Beckon, OT, Louisville
20. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
26. D'Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
39. Josh Jones, OT, Houston
70. Malik Harrison, OLB, Ohio State

And in another trade with Jacksonville, they gave up 9, 20, and 42 for 5, 39, and 70. I picked a lot of the same players, but went CB at 18, figuring we will trade Howard.
9. Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
18. CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
20. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
26. D'Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
42. Josh Jones, OT, Houston
56. Leonard Cushenberry, C, LSU

Yes, that would be awesome. But I don't think Wills and Thomas will drop like that. Wills is probably top 10 and Thomas top 15.

If Grier pulled off these scenarios that would be an incredible haul. I'm okay with Swift at 26 if Miami trades back for additional quality picks. Key word is quality.

I'm hoping they package up a bunch of those Day 3 picks to jump up into Day 2 or at least the top of Round 4.

Yes, I think it seems a bit too good to be true. I experimented with a variety of trades with Jacksonville and other teams, and most of them were rejected. (I wanted to see whether the algorithms were set to be accommodating for the user, but were unrealistic.) Jacksonville was willing to trade 9 and 20 for 5 and 56 every time. I would take that trade in a heartbeat if I were Miami, because often the players available at 9 often include players taken at 5 in other mocks (not Tua, though). I did it a few more times, and usually one of the tackles Wills, Thomas, and Werff is there. Herbert sometimes makes it to 18, and sometimes not.

I agree with you that it would be nice to move up into Day 3, but I doubt we could get value doing that this year. Those are premium picks, and teams won't want to trade down unless we really make it worth their while. Teams are usually impatient, and they will be willing to "lose" on a trade if they loss comes later. In other words, if we wanted an extra pick in round 3, the time to trade for it was to give up late round picks last year. We could trade those late round picks for Day 2 picks next year and get better value, too. Just my opinion ....

Edit: Just ran it again, with the first scenario (which I think is more realistic), and Derrick Brown dropped to 9. I couldn't pass him up. That is why this trade would be so good for us, because with an extra Day 1 pick, we would feel better about taking BPA. This one gave us another nice haul.

9. Derrick Brown, 18. Mekhi Becton, 20. K'Lavon Chaisson, 26. C. Ruiz, 39. D'Andre Swift, 70. Gabriel Davis (WR, UCF)

I just ran a non QB simulation going mostly with BPA. Passed on Tua at 5, Herbert/Love at 18 [all three gone by 26] and resisted any QBs on Day 2.

Came away with the following:

5. Isaiah Simmons LB/S

18. Andrew Thomas OT

26. Cesar Ruiz G/C

37. Jonathan Taylor RB

56. Jaylon Johnson CB

70. Neville Gallimore NT

I don't think Andrew Thomas will be there at 18 but hey, take advantage in this case. I think Flores will plead with Grier for Simmons as a game changer if available at 5. Gallimore gives them more of an ability to run a 3-4.

Ruiz makes way too much sense and is perfect for value/need at 26. Taylor is a do it all guy who won't have a huge work load when paired up with Howard. Johnson can play press corner and also seems to have that safety ability that Flores loves in his secondary guys.

I also took NT Darrion Daniels on Day 3. I think Miami is going to grab some big bodies to help with that front 7 diversity.

And yes, I went with 2 QBs. Anthony Gordon in Round 4 [Fromm and Morgan were off the board] and Jake Luton in Round 7. Let them compete with Rosen for backup jobs and may the best man win.

Most of you guys may remember I was a big proponent of Luke Falk. I thought he was a great point guard type of QB. But his arm was too weak and him trying to compensate led to accuracy problems.

Anthony Gordon could be in that same mold but he has the arm strength. I don't like his heavy feet but he has zip, throws from multiple arm angles and hits throws with accuracy. He also showed up at the Senior Bowl which was impressive given he was a one year starter in Leach's offense. I don't know his processing ability that well but he's worth some investment.

If he can be the guy I thought Luke Falk was then you've got yourself a good QB.

This would be an incredible first two days of the draft, going along with Rich's idea of all offense. The Raiders were willing to trade us 12 and 19 for 5 and 70 on the site Jammer suggested.

12. Andrew Thomas, OT
18. Jerry Jeudy, WR
19. Justin Herbert, QB
26. Cesar Ruiz, C
39. D'Andre Swift, RB
56. Josh Jones, OT

On the same site, staying put with our current picks, and again focusing on offense, I got these two drafts:
5. Jedrick Wills, OT (passing on Tua, who went 6th)
18. Mekhi Becton, OT (Herbert went 12th)
26. Cesar Ruiz, C
39. Jordan Love, QB
56. Jonathan Taylor, RB
70. Michael Pittman, WR

5. Tristan Wirfs, OT
18. Justin Herbert, QB
26. Andrew Thomas, OT
39. D'Andre Swift, RB (Ruiz went at 38)
56. Tee Higgins, WR
70. Raekwon Davis, DT

These drafts are too good to be true, unfortunately. Also, this is addicting and is a huge waste of my time!

Using the Draft Network Simulator I did a 5-round mock:

5. Tua Tagovailoa -- QB
18. Andrew Thomas -- OT
26. Josh Jones -- OT
39. Grant Delpit -- S
56. J.K. Dobbins -- RB
70. Curtis Weaver -- EDGE
141. Jordan Elliott -- IDL
153. Devin Duvernay -- WR
154. Myles Bryant -- CB
173. Zach Shackelford -- IOL

Fins continue to build on their Offensive and Defensive fronts. Adding bookend OTs along with depth on the interior of the OL. They also add depth in the middle of the DL along with depth on the edge. They bring a little more competition to the offense by improving the RB and WR groups. The secondary has improved with a possible future NCB and also adding additional help at the backend of the defense at Safety. Oh yeah, they also brought in the QB of the future who will be red-shirting his rookie season with the hopes that the injuries become less frequent during his NFL career.

Now I did another 5-round mock but this time using FanSpeak simulator:

5: R1P5 QB TUA TAGOVAILOA
18: R1P18 OT MEKHI BECTON
26: R1P26 EDGE A.J. EPENESA
39: R2P7 S XAIVER MCKINNEY
56: R2P24 C CESAR RUIZ
70: R3P6 RB CAM AKERS
141: R4P35 G KEVIN DOTSON
153: R5P7 WR COLLIN JOHNSON
154: R5P8 DL JAMES LYNCH
173: R5P27 RB AJ DILLON

Fins get their red-shirted QB of the future with their first pick. They also pick up the starting OT and big help on the Edge to round out the first round of the draft.

On day2 they bring in another starting caliber Alabama Safety, hopefully this one sticks. They also nab a starting quality C and RB to learn behind the current veterans. This brings immediate depth to the OL and RB positions while also being a possible upgrade by mid-season.

On day3 the Fins were all about adding depth to the roster. They add another interior OL and DL who could play on the edge or interior depending on the situation. They bring in depth at offensive skill positions with a WR standing 6'6 while also adding a battering ram at RB (Gailey should have fun using these two guys in his offense on short yardage situations and near the goaline).

I would love this. However, I think Wirfs, Herbert, and Swift will all go about ten picks earlier than that.

I ran with Jammer's idea of trying to use some mid round picks (along with some trade downs) to move up into the second round. The following 3 trades were accepted by PFF.
We trade 18, 70, 141 to Baltimore for 28, 55, and 60.
We trade 5, 55, 60, 154 to JAX for 9, 20, and 42.
We trade 26, 153 to Chicago for 43 and 50.

The net effect of this is that the small trade downs from 9 to 12, 18 to 20, and 26 to 28 allow us to parlay picks 70, 141, 153, and 154 into mid second round picks 42, 43, and 50.

This gives us the following 8 picks in the first two rounds: 9, 20, 28, 39, 42, 43, 50, 56.

I'll show what happened in two mocks I did with these picks. These probably wouldn't happen, because the mocks let the QBs fall too far, but the point is that we have the ammunition to stockpile a lot of picks in the first two rounds if we wheel and deal. I don't think any of those three trades are unreasonable. Dropping from 5 to 9 doesn't hurt us much unless they foolishly (IMO) plan to draft Tua at 5.

Here are the two mocks:
9. T.Wirfs, OT
20. J.Herbert, QB (not likely to fall here)
28. C.Ruiz, C (should be here)
39. D.Swift, RB (I feel better about taking him here than in 1st round)
42. J.Jones, OT (he has been rising, may not be here)
43. T.Diggs, CB (also considerd Baun, LB, here)
50. Tee Higgins, WR
56. C. Weaver, DE

9. J. Wills, OT (Wirfs also available)
20. X. McKinney, S (Herbert also available)
28. C. Ruiz, C (he always makes it this far -- maybe I draft him too high)
39. A.Jackson, OT (Josh Jones also available)
42. J.Taylor, RB
43. Z.Baun, LB

Fanspeak.com. Matt Miller's Big Board. BPA with every pick.

That looks to be a nice 3 rounds right there. My only gripes is that we got one offensive lineman and didn't get an edge rusher in the first two rounds.

Dave, that was a best player available draft using Matt Miller's most recent Big Board. Whoever was at the top of the list, got selected. Position wasn't taken into account at all, including the QB, OL, RB, and WR picks. I really wanted to see what was available when we didn't reach for a positional need.

I really didn't think it would go as well as it did. I was a little surprised.

That is a cool site at fanspeak. The players definitely go in a different order than at the pff site. I was surprised to see how far the center Ruiz fell. I'd be thrilled to get him in with our second pick of the second round. Here is my mock -- I went heavy on the OL.

5. Wirfs, OT
18. Herbert, QB
26. Josh Jones, OT
39. Swift, RB
56. Ruiz, C
70. A. Winfield, S

A note of interest, in a lot of these, either Jeudy or Jefferson is there at 18.
I like both of those guys at WR. I'm sure we have bigger needs but those guys can be impact players.

I like your discipline for getting value Coots. Miami isn't exactly budding with Pro Bowlers so plenty of guys can be replaced.

If Miami gets it's QB at #5, I could definitely see them pulling the trigger on one of the Big 3 WRs at #18, but more than likely, trading back and picking up more picks because it would turn into a highly coveted pick.

I don’t disagree.
I figure there will ve some trading going on with Herbert somewhere.
