RB Jordan Howard has been released, Brian Flores says. It was a "mutual" move, Flores said.

This was in the best interest of both parties, ours and his," Flores says of Howard

No dead money for Miami on this. Dolphins don't need to pay $5 M he would have been paid in 2021 and $5 M cap hit in 2021 also eliminated.

Good. Smart contract, no dead $. It was a big swing and a miss, but it's better to move on now than to hang onto him hoping somehow he improves. Too bad; I thought it was a smart move when they picked him up but he just looked slow and lifeless out there.

Big FA signing was a big miss. O line seems better suited for the smaller quick back vs the bruising back. Thought process in the off-season was the one-two punch with Breida & Howard, but the one punch will have to do. As a whole though, this season's FA signings have been strong.

Releasing RB Jordan Howard was a no-brainer as the move didn't work out for the Dolphins. Perhaps the injuries over the years have taken its toll on him. Good luck to Howard moving forward. Smart contract, Grier.

He cleared waivers with no one claiming him off waivers even for a $720K price tag for the remaining 7 games. He showed no quickness to get to the hole while with us as the injuries have taken a toll on him.

As if it weren’t already obvious that the Dolphins overpaid for running back Jordan Howard this offseason, the 31 other teams have taken a pass on picking up his salary for the rest of the season.

Howard cleared waivers today, making him a free agent.

This offseason the Dolphins signed Howard to a two-year, $9.75 million contract, including $4.75 million guaranteed. Any team claiming him would have had to pay him the $720,000 remaining on this year’s salary, and no one wanted to pay that.
