Him and Dick Anderson formed one of the best safety combos in the league, perfect for Arnsparger’s brainy defenses....he was a rebel too, marched to his own drumbeat...him and Shula had enough run ins that once the early 70s hey days were over and the Fins struggled Shoes had to trade him to get him out of the lockeroom...if I recall what tipped the scales was Scott’s refusal to take pain medication for an injury he was nursing, refusing to play in an exhibition game....
....the trivia question is who was he traded for. Of course in today’s internet the answer is a few key strokes away, but Bryant Salter, also a DB for the Redskins closed the deal. Salter’s NFL legacy will only be known for being the guy traded for Jake Scott to settle Shoes demands for Salter never came close to make people forget Scott.
