The Guys Who Want to Play for Miami List
They seem to be lining up at the front door guys, shall we let them in??? - Vince Wilfork - Antrel Rolle - Chad Ochocinco - Brandon Marshall? (did he say it, or fan speculation?.. dont remember) We'll add more as they come out with these shocking revelations! In all seriousness, we'll keep this list updated and then once the season starts see how many of them actually end up playing for us... might be a nice archive tool to look back on

It's going to be funny if we have'nt signed anybody off the list.

Re: The Guys Who Want to Play for Miami List
Rolle, Wilfork, and Marshall are great possibilities. Chad's still under contract, no? So in my mind I don't really count Ochocinco. However, if Miami signs any one of those other three guys I think it opens up so many more possibilities for the draft. All three of those guys are in need positions. It would allow Miami to take the BPA instead of focusing on positions. Obviously, if draft picks are involved to even get them, it doesn't help the draft, but if they become straight up FA's I see no reason why Miami doesn't open up the checkbook.

The only one I think is a possibility, and the one I would want to target is Rolle.
Wilfork is going to get paid way too much by somebody, and the 2 WR's aren't considerations, IMO.
What about Julius Peppers guys?

I'd also look at seeing if we could get Derrick Mason for a year or two.

Marshall at the pro bowl sure didn't sound like a guy that was going anywhere or wants to go anywhere.

Re: The Guys Who Want to Play for Miami List
Im not for overpaying anyone. Wilfork, as much as a I want him, is going to demand Haynesworth type money. NO THANKS You draft well, you pay smart money for good players. You don't pull a Redskins and take every highpriced FA out there in hopes of buying your team. I don't care how good the player is, you get yourself in trouble when you overpay for free agents. As much as I like to speculate and drool over flashy free agents, I know that at the end of the day there are 32 teams wanting the guy and only one that will pay enough - which is likely too much. I don't see any of these guys playing for us at the end of the day, but I think Marshall would be the most 'likely'.

According for ProFootballFocus (which is a very good stats site), Gabril Wilson was ranked 15th, Yeremiah Bell was ranked 33rd, and Antrel Rolle was ranked ... 67th in the NFL. I will be honest in that I have not seen a lot of the Cardinals defense except for their 2 playoffs games. That defense gave up a lot of big plays. ProFootballFocusPhins Rock wrote: What about Julius Peppers guys? I'm game. His only problem is that he disappears for a while in games, but I will say that he is super talented. And I don't think he will cost us a draft pick ... at least not a first round one, but he will be expensive. With JP and JT most likely gone, I can see us paying Peppers. Also, I can see him being very disruptive as an OLB in our 3-4 defense. Fly out and get him, Parcells.

I like that website too, but some of the stats they compile are probably off. I'm not sure what stats they use to break down a player's "coverage performance", but there is no way Gibril's was +.7, and Rolle's -5.7. Antrel probably has the best man-to-man coverage skills for any FS in the NFL, and makes tons of plays. Plus, it ranked Smiley and Donald Thomas in the bottom 10 around mid-season......when we had the number 1 ranked run game in the league. Sooo....IDK. Some positions are just too hard to really rank appropriately, and I think FS is one of them.

Re: The Guys Who Want to Play for Miami List
We'll get some guys who will eventually be on this list. Some random backup will get released and hear that Miami is interested, say how wonderful it would be to play in miami (thus making the list), and then get signed.
Every guy we bring in "wants to play in Miami".

I doubt we would see Julius Peppers here either. He does want to play in a 34 but again, this front office likes to make its big splashes in the draft and supplement with free agency.

Every front office builds their team mainly through the draft and free agency. Thanks for that nugget. I now know something about the NFL today that I would not have known if I didn't log in today.

As opposed to trading two 1st rounders and a 3rd for a QB, as opposed to breaking the bank for a FA and then not being able to afford your 1st round pick. Many teams draft very poorly and sign free agents who have proven talent cuz they wouldn't know skill if it smacked them in the face.

But that is not the case here with these gentlemen. So I think this post would be more accurately titled "Guys who want to come back home to Florida".

Perhaps he is referring to RFA's which you typically have to give up picks to obtain. Yeah I forgot to put the R there, with this being a potentially uncapped year most FA's will be RFA's I'm with ya

There is no opposition in your statement, therefore it didn't make sense. If you are going to paraphrase what I said, at least come somewhere near close to what I said. I said this front office prefers to make their splash through the draft and supplement in free agency. If you can't distinguish between what I said and what you said I said, then sorry to say there isn't much hope for you.

And I asked as opposed to? and was responded with (paraphrasing again so bare with me) "some teams pick badly in the draft and pay to much for free agents" man I am retarded for not being able to distinguish the difference. if I would have used the word supplement in front of free agency it would have been spot on, but that word should go without saying, the bulk of every team is built through the draft. Or was it the word splash that I left out? Would that have made you happy.
