I like the discipline that Coach Sparano has instilled into this team. And they are a young team, too.

Here’s a look at the Miami Dolphins’ penalty trends through four games:

Overall, they have drawn 17 penalties for 122 yards, tying them with the Buccaneers for fewest total penalties. In least penalty yardage, the Dolphins are atop the NFL, 21 yards better than the 3-1 Chiefs.

Obviously, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano would prefer the Dolphins don’t make a single penalty, but all things considered he admits he is “pleased” with their performance in that area so far.

“I have to be pleased,” Sparano said this week. “I don’t love in the last ball game [that] we had a couple of poorly timed penalties but I have to be pleased that we’re the best in the league right now. … I have to be happy about that. It’s one of the disciplines that’s been good.”
