Post Bill Cowher...please come to South Beach
Dear Mr. Ross,
Please contact Coach Cowher and start negotiations to bring him in as our coach and GM for next season. We have not had a good coaching staff since the legend, Don Shula, was pushed out the door. I think Cowher could be our best shot.

1. Cowher does not have any GM experience
2. He already won a Superbowl. How many NFL head coaches have won a Superbowl with two different teams? None.

No more retreads, we need a new PHILOSOPHY. Somebody fresh with new ideas. This Parcells way is old and doesn't work. We need to get rid of "Parcell's guys".

Yes, Miami needs a retread. Lets get a big named coach who is just there for the money & see how that works.

Well....then let's pull a winner from the college ranks. I want a disciplinarian for this team. The players won't like it, but the fans will.

Disciplinarian? Tom Coughlin was one & he was losing his team until he learned that being one did not work. When he listened to his team, they won a SB.

You need someone who understands when you need to be tough & when you need to be loose.

Also, should I say Saban was a disciplinarian & it did not work for him. Works for college kids, but not grown men.

I don't think discipline hurt the Giants at all. I also don't think that Coughlin's success came entirely from him giving in to the players. I think it was a combination of both sides moving to the middle. I find it funny that Tiki Barber bailed on the team because of Coughlin and the very next season they went to the Super Bowl. Hmmmmm......maybe the coach had the right idea and the whiny diva got it wrong? Barber should have been a hall of famer, but now I just see him as a quitter.

FYI. Hope you will take this info from the mouth of the man himself.

Quote:
One of the better features of the book is learning about his coaching pedigree and his discussion of how he had to loosen up a little bit with the New York Giants, who as most recall, were seemingly in near-mutiny of Coughlin’s old school rules and discipline.

No one said he gave in, but loosened up & stopped being stricked.

Barber bailed after the '06 seaosn because Coughlin wanted a 31 Yr old RB with 2200+ carries to practice like a 22 Yr old Rb trying to make the team..

Tiki said it himself. I can't do that. My body is not able.

Also, the Giants started 2007 with a 0-2 record & gave up 80 points. Then had the team meeting with Coughlin. The following results was a 6 game winning streak where they gave up 79 points.

Coaching in the NFL isn't about imposing your will on anyone. It's about being a teacher, mentor, and leader. Grown men want to play for someone they respect, not someone that belittles them.
Brad Childress is a terrible coach because of his ego...as is Mike Martz, Mike Singletary, Josh McDaniels.

The successful ones are more humble: Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, Jeff Fischer.

Bill Belichick has an ego, but the guy cheats so it evens out.

While I like Cowher, that doesn't make me feel comfortable.

Hilarious ... but true.

The team is young and improved. We have had a tough schedule and are 5-5. Not great, but they have been dealing with a "retooled" and injured offensive line, poor special teams, and inept offensive playcalling. Coach Sparano will get another year. Besides, Cowher is headed to Carolina. That's his home.

12 coaches have more than one ring...
The Saints never won a Super Bowl before last year...Did that mean it would never happen

I think the only way Sparano isn't here next year is if the Dolphins completely collapse (6-10 maybe even 7-9). Most of the experts pick us to finish 3rd in the East and out of the playoffs so I doubt many of them will be calling for Sparano's head in the coming weeks.

We are what they thought we were...

If he does goes the way of Wade, I like Gruden.

True, but did they win it with multiple teams? If simply getting to the SB were to object then that would be different.

Not as a HC.

No, but Miami has already tried the SB coach who removed himself from the game & sat for a few years in the studio booth being a talking head & finding out that there is life outside of the NFL. Finding out that they have a family that needs & wants to spend time with them. When he came back he could not recapture the passion, work ethic it took to ascend to the top of the NFL.

How nauseating also was it when every other commercial on the broadcast last night was promoting the show about the legend Bill Parcells.

True enough, but the point was that no coach has won two Superbowls with two different teams.

Let's revisit this thread when the Phins finish 6-10.

Great. Awesome.

Zero head coaches still have Superbowl rings with two teams.

First time for everything? Sure. But there is a reason it hasn't happened yet.
