 Re: Thanks again Saban!!
LOL. You know, Saban actually wanted Brees, but his contract demands and our docs poor report of his throwing shoulder made him sign Culpepper. I really don't fault Saban on this as I was on board with the Culpepper signing. Now we know why I don't make these decisions, eh?
Are those docs still on our team? If so, I think I"d fire the lot of them.

Please , the consensus here was it is better to take a QB qith a leg problem rather than a arm problem. We loved & hailed the mighty C-PEP!!!
WE could have also drafted Brees.

WE could have also drafted Brees. That is who I wanted in the draft. I looked foolish his first two years in the league, but then he caught fire. Back on topic with this ...Quote: It was thought Brees really wanted to go to South Florida.
But Payton's message to Brees was a firm, "We want you."
Nick Saban's message to Brees was a firm, "We want you to take every physical and medical exam our doctors can think of."
Finally, according to Saban, one of the Dolphins' team doctors decided the shoulder was too risky. http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/col ... 13-p2.htmlAnd this from Armando Salguero ...Armando Salguero wrote: And this I did not know: According to Galloway, Parcells was mildly interested in Drew Brees when he became available as an unrestricted free agent in 2006, but ultimately decided against chasing the quarterback. The reason? Parcells didn't like the risk of signing a quarterback with an injured shoulder.
The same reason the Dolphins, under Nick Saban, didn't sign Brees. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins ... rees-.html

Do we have to bring this subject up every time Drew Brees wins a game? LOL This and the Welker 'trade' are two of the most popular threads to come up on this board (concerning players not on this team).

 Re: Thanks again Saban!!
we can speculate all day. the truth is brees could have came to miami and blown his shoulder out or not fit in the scheme as well here as he does in new orleans and then what? we'd be ruing the day we didn't take daunte culpepper.

 Re: Thanks again Saban!!
Yeah people seem to forget that we don't have the offensive weapons of the Saints, nor do we have Sean Payton. Brees coming here may have worked out fine, but it may not have worked out quite as successfully as it did with the Saints; different teams, different players, different coaches.
Sort of the same argument with Welker playing for the Pats offensive juggernaut.

At the time, obviously you take the guy with the bum knee over the "bum" arm.....But whatever doctor came up with his shoulder not being healthy enough....

I sort of agree...Yes, logically that makes sense. However, my gut told me that Culpepper wasn't the answer. Not necessarily that Brees was the answer, I just never had a good feeling about Daunte.

Just to cap this off & add more salt to our wounds ... some web site had a year end article to the football season both pro & college & had a divided picture with both Saban & Brees holding championship trophies.

 Re: Thanks again Saban!!
Judging from the multiple resembling sig images one would think we can understand that it takes more than a great QB to win a championship....
Ask me 10 out of 10 times which of the 2 SuperBowl QB's I would rather have on my team and you will get the same answer each time....
Yet he still wasnt holding the trophy....
Great job to the Saints, the entire team had a great day. Coming back from -10, keeping Peytin out of the endzone late in the 4th..... That onside kickoff.....
