No tag for Dansby?
ESPN.com's Adam Schefter reports this afternoon that Arizona Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby will not get the franchise tag because it would cost them too much money.
Instead, they will allow Dansby to test the market, then re-assess their situation and whether they can afford to pay him what the market is bearing.
Earlier today, Schefter ranked Dansby the second best free agent on the market right now, behind only Julius Peppers. "He'll get to test the free-agent market and become one of the highest-paid defensive players in football history."
He's not coming cheap and if you think he is, you need to think again. He has better numbers than Bart Scott and it's probably going to take that type of contract to get him.
Still, he is a proven commodity, less than 30 years old and can upgrade the ILB position for Miami in a huge way as he brings a playmaker to the position. 442 solo tackles, 25.5 sacks and 10 interceptions are impressive. He has the size and versatility to play OLB as well.
