Post Home vs. away...possible answer
Ran these numbers just now. In 8 home games and 7 road games this season, this is our run pass ratio:

Away run – 192
Home run – 155

Road pass - 207
Home pass – 267

Road pass-run ratio: 52-48
Home pass-run ratio: 63-37

Also, Henne has 12 INT's at home vs. 6 on the road. Coincidence? Doubt it...

Between Ronnie and Ricky Williams only.....

At home Miami's run game averages 3.7 ypc.

On the road Miami's run game is at 4.2 ypc

This team has deficiencies all over the offense. BUT, this just goes to show that when you let Ronnie and Ricky pound it and you stay committed to the run game, it will be effective. Having this good a run game obviously helps Henne as well as the Defense stay off the field. To prove this....

On the road Miami's D allows 14.7 ppg.

At home teams score 24 ppg.

This is not a mystery. When Miami commits to the run game, they win. When they don't, they lose.

Problem solved. Now fire Dan Henning.... :) :yay:

Great breakdown. This goes to show you that Henne can still be a good starter for us if we can build a solid ground game to back him up. I think if we commit to rebuilding our run game this offseason by picking up linemen and backs then we could really help Henne and our offense out. Another big receiver could help too. You never know, a new offensive coordinator, a new ground game, maybe Henne becomes "the man" with a better team built around him?

They do a good job of giving Henne help on the road, but none at home?

And history shows that when Ronnie and Ricky get a certain amount of carries, they're 2nd half ypc average is ridiculous. They wear defenses down.

This offense is built to run the ball and wear teams down. Not throw it 40 times a game. Miami did a good job of that on the road but a poor job of it at home. You need to stay committed to the run game.

It matters not with the tatters that represents our current offensive line....

THAT is a pretty telling stat and could be the single biggest reason we went 1-7 at home. I wonder what the thinking was there to go pass happy at home and stick to the run on the road? Why not be consistent?

Good post! And I definitely concur with your assessment to fire Dan Henning.

I know when I went and saw the Dolphins on the road in Green Bay this year I thought the team looked much more energized before kickoff and the all around play was much better than what I saw at our home games this year.

Good post. Henne has a long way to go yet to prove his consistency and better decision making and it will be an interesting off season for him, thats for sure as I suspect a ton of QB competition next year.

You make a great point Rich, our playcalling has been inconsistent, maybe that has been the reason our offensive play has been so inconsistent?
Hopefully these are things our staff will look at this offseason and correct.
