Dolphins Talking Points: Lombardi report hard to believe

We like NFL insider Michael Lombardi and frequently take his scoops as gospel. But one point he made this week is a bit tough to swallow, which is where we begin our talking points for Friday:
1. It’s hard to imagine a bad loss this week could get coach Tony Sparano fired.
According to Lombardi, Sparano is safe unless things go very badly at New England on Sunday. So we’re supposed to believe that losing to Cleveland, Buffalo and Detroit at home didn’t cost him his job but getting pasted by 13-2 New England could?
2. Miami’s special teams can’t lose the game Sunday as they did the first time around.
Remember Oct. 4? Former special teams coach John Bonamego certainly does. New England returned a kickoff for one touchdown, blocked a punt for another and returned an interception for another, so regardless of the fact the Dolphins held Tom Brady to 153 yards passing and Randy Moss without a catch, the Patriots rolled to a 41-14 victory.
3. Let’s try not to hate too much on little Danny Woodhead.
Woodhead is a great story and can be fun to watch, at least until he’s doing his thing against your team. Then he’s a short little runt somebody needs to knock on his butt.
