I think it is mostly age with Ricky; otherwise, they'd resign him.

Quote:
Ricky: Dolphins want to move on in backfield

Free agent Ricky Williams believes the Dolphins fully intend to move on from him and Ronnie Brown in large part because there is a new offensive coordinator in place.

Dan Henning's exit may be a handy excuse, but a more realistic reason is that the Dolphins want to get much younger and much faster in the backfield. Williams will find it hard to walk away from Miami if he receives a fair offer, but he's not expecting that to be forthcoming.

I thought Ricky didnt like Sparano's micro managing and was excited to hit the FA market...

Sounds like a rather subtle back pedal here...

I like Ricky, but I am sure the Dolphins get do just fine without him. Maybe even better if we find the right RB to take over..

Brown can't stay healthy and Williams is an expensive backup who wants more carries. Probably time to move on unless Williams wants to take the brunt of the action while Miami breaks in a new rookie.

Trust me, once this lockout is over if Miami doesn't want Ricky back, I guarantee you some other team will snatch him up and the fact is he would make a great number two running back. I have said it before, but it would not surprise me one bit if New England signed him and he rushes for over 1,000 yards as a part-time back and murphy's law he will have some ridiculous game against Miami where he gets 150 yards and 3 touchdowns!!!!

Personally, I want him back as a back up and veteran luxury in case our starter (whoever that is) goes down.

The mumbo jumbo about him calling out Sparano is something that can be water under the bridge with one conversation with the coach....

I'm not sure if this is correct or not but don't we get compensatory picks for Ricky and Ronnie next season if we "loose" them to free agency??? If thats the case then wouldn't we get some pretty decent mid round picks for them? Since both of them were high draft picks I think their compensatory value would be decent, maybe even better than what we could have gotten for either of them if we tried to trade them. It's funny, it might be better for us to "loose" them to free agency and draft rookie replacements in terms of value.
