Something Positive

Miami could be onto something with moving Richie Incognito to center. At first blush, the volatile ex-Rams guard seems like a poor fit. But in a small sampling of action at center down the stretch last season, Incognito gave the Dolphins more raw power inside (which they needed). Centers assume less of a burden in pass protection, which is a plus for Incognito. What’s more, the added mental responsibilities of center may force Incognito to raise his focus, which in the past has led to his being a more versatile run-blocker.

Since when?
Fact is, the center is responsible for making line calls and has to be the leader of the line. Center assumes the burden of everyone's pass protection. He still has to pass protect...how is it any different than if he were at guard? The only difference is that he now makes the line calls.

They mentioned that later. I think they just meant from an in-play standpoint, he's not going to always be engaged with somebody, and when he is it will mostly be in a double team-help role.

Henne was getting too much pressure from the interior last season which flushed him out of the pocket a lot. Hopefully this season Incognito or someone else will be able to fill in and keep the heat off of Henne. Center is a big need for us.
