Rolando McClain Decides not to do any drills at combine
Kinda disappointing to me.

Me too. I would have liked to see him run the 40.

Probably smart for him to do. When a guy has as much good looking tape as he does, 40 times and broad jumps really only serve to nit-pick a player and bring his value down.
Look at the tape. That's where is value will be judged.

That is not true...for two reasons. McClain's tapes aren't anything special, and secondly the combine is not designed to nit-pick players but for players to showcase their talents. Scouts want to see a guy run the 40 to compare his talent to a lesser talent. Is he running a 4.75? If so, how does that compare to say...a Micah Johnson? The only way a combine workout would ever hurt a player is if he doesn't attend, or gets injured while doing it....but the odds of hurting yourself severely are less likely than at practice because there is not contact.

His tape isn't special?? His tape has gotten him top 15 pick status.

Re: Rolando McClain Decides not to do any drills at combine
Quote: Originally, it was believed that McClain wasn’t hurt. However, McClain’s agent told NFL Network’s Mike Mayock that the linebacker has been receiving treatment on an injured hamstring twice per day since last month’s Senior Bowl. The agent also said McClain has undergone two MRIs.
McClain told Davis that he would do all drills at Alabama’s March 10 pro day.
McClain measured at 6-foot-3 and 254 pounds at the combine, and he’s the No. 1 inside linebacker on NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock’s board. NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks projects McClain, who left Alabama after his junior season, as the No. 15 overall pick to the Giants. http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/01/agent-m ... th-injury/

Re: Rolando McClain Decides not to do any drills at combine
Quote: Alabama's Rolando McClain: He did nothing. His agent texted the NFL Network to explain McClain is dealing with a hamstring issue and will do all his work at his Pro Day. To me, McClain came off as not wanting to really be at the Combine. Sure, he said he just wants to play football - but who here doesn't?
Some might call it confident. I thought he was very "Sabanish." It might not be a bad thing if the guy turns out to be an All-Pro. I still get the feeling a lot of what he did had to do with Saban's scheme. That being said I think he will be a good player and if the Dolphins don't sign Karlos Dansby he probably will be the pick. For him being so big he wasn't very strong in the bench and I'm not convinced he'll run a 4.5 like he says he eventually will. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins ... mbine.html
