Seriously, how ironic is it that Tony Sparano's head coaching career with the Miami Dolphins came to a screeching halt on the heels of a game where the Offensive Line completely sh*t the bed? That was supposed to be the man's specialty and at the end of the day the performance of that unit was mostly a joke over his entire tenure.

As the possible future head coach Brian Billick said, what gets you hired sometimes gets you fired.

Still , you do not fire him when he goes 0-7 but you do when he goes 4-2.

Reality is he got fired after going 4-9, not 4-2. The thinking probably was that after Haley got fired, the Fins did not want them to have a 3 week head start negotiating with available coaches. Most coaches will not even speak to a team if they have a head coach in place. In they head coaching fraternity, they call it professional courtesy.

You also must first consider assistant coaches on the current staff first before hiring a new one...

So now Bowles is that guy, and Ross can freely move forward...

Legue rules... Thats why last year cross country trip was blown out of proportion, even if Harbaugh wanted our job, we could not offer it at that time....

Coaches use that old fraternity crap like they respect each other... Cowher knows you cant hire a new coach until the old one is fried AND you interview a coach currently on the team..

Spot on. Also, add to the fact that we choose an African American to be the interim head coach. No one should have any doubt that was done simply to satisfy the Rooney Rule so they can hire someone like Cowher or Fisher faster.

Though it should also be pointed out that last year, having a head coach in place did not stop Ross from searching for a new head coach. I think this move was done now so they would have the jump on hiring a big name when the season ends. This was as much precipitated by the Chiefs firing their head coach the day before as Tony losing another one.

Is a big name coach really the answer?

Not really...they started to suck last year and really fell off the cliff this offseason.
