Did you guys know about this?
Quote:
Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich was a part of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins team. Now, his son Nick has been invited to try out for the same franchise.
Nick Mandich, a tight end, the same position as his father, played at Southern Connecticut State University, where he collected 37 catches for 303 yards over three seasons and impressed the team during Miami's workout day before the draft.

There was a huge debate about this on 560 on Friday. Alot of callers said it was for PR purposes only.

Would be an awesome story. Although italso has the potential of ending up pretty bad. That's why I dont think it is a PR move. Chances are he will not make the team and it will not look good when the Phisn cut Mandich's son.

But with such few catches and yards it makes you wonder. Was he mostly a blocking tight end in college? Maybe they are looking for a TE who can block to balanc eout Egnew's skills.

I'm fairly certain there has never been a player from SCSU who made it to the NFL. I can't imagine a marginal player from such as crappy school (football and most other ways) has the slightest of chances.

This is nothing more than a PR move.
