Trade for Darrelle Revis worth exploring for cap-strong Fins
http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/03/01/3 ... revis.htmlI know this is something that is against all odds, but..... A couple of clips from the above link article by Greg Cote: Exploring a Revis trade would demonstrate ingenuity and boldness by Ireland, but also be a calculated risk in giving up draft picks. It’s a no-lose thing. Getting Revis would be hugely popular with most fans, but nobody expects the deal so Ireland would not be blamed if it never happened. I’d probably not give up Miami’s first-round pick (12th overall) for Revis, but I would give up one of my second- and third-round picks and maybe even throw in a lower pick and perhaps an expendable player. Who knows what it would take? The injury question could scare some teams and make it a buyer’s market. Again, isn’t it worth finding out? YEAH right. The Jets are NEVER going to trade Revis within the division.

I don't see the Jets trading him in the division, and not only would you lose picks, but then you have to pay Revis.
He is a FA after this year and wants to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
To me, that is just to much to give away,

A few things here:
1. The Jets will never trade their defensive star to a divisional rival, especially an intense one.
2. Revis is 28 and coming off an ACL injury. To boot, he got hurt without being hit. Who knows if he can ever be what he once was?
3. He's going to demand Mario Williams type money. Probably more than Mario Williams type money.
I'm sorry, I'd rather take my chances in the draft.

I'm sorry, I'd rather take my chances in the draft. Guys come back from ACL injuries as good as new most of the time, aka Adrian Peterson. The biggest things you mentioed are #1 & 2. On top of the draft picks that you will have to give up as well.

RGIII has had an ACL before and looked great before this last injury. It not the death sentence of an injury it use to be if you are just talking about the ACL.

CB is INFINITELY more demanding on your knees then QB. And a lot of positions.

Please site me the statistics of guys coming back from tearing their knee up.

The only person I would even consider paying "Revis-want" money would be a quarterback. And I definitely wouldn't give up draft picks. This team needs its draft picks to avoid salary cap hell.

The guy just doesnt seem to honor contracts. I would imagine trading for him & then negotiating with him would be a pain & at this stage maybe not worth it.

Re: Trade for Darrelle Revis worth exploring for cap-strong Fins
I am sure Revis will come back healthy off the knee surgery. Of course, you never know, but he is an elite athlete and nowadays medical technology and talents have come along way.
It is a risk, but setting aside the fact that it is a remote chance the Jets trade him within the division, but IF they did and IF Revis sat around with no suitors for an extended period of time and all of a sudden you can get him for less in a trade, Miami has plenty of money under the cap to strike a long term deal.
In those circumstances, you at least explore the idea. The guy is still young and a tremendous shutdown corner.
