Well, one of the three best free agent wide receivers is gone.

Quote:
Chiefs re-signed WR Dwayne Bowe to a five-year contract.

The sides finalized the deal just ahead of Monday's 4PM franchise-tag deadline. Financials aren't in yet, but we suspect Bowe received over $11 million annually. He's now under Kansas City's control through his age-33 season. Appearing in 13 games last year, Bowe racked up 59 catches for 801 yards and three touchdowns. He's three seasons removed from a career-best 72/1,162/15 line, but has obviously been adversely affected by poor QB play. Alex Smith is at least competent and should help Bowe re-ascend to WR2 value.

KC radio was saying yesterday it was 5 years, 50 million.

Even if that's a little off, it means that Wallace gets AT LEAST that, and probably at least 2 million more per year.

I think Welker is a better receiver than Bowe.

Different..I wouldn't say better...They both drop alot of passes. That's about all they have in common.

Anyway we have Bess so Welker is not a factor for this team other than to maybe drive up his price a little.

The Patriots didn't franchise Welker you can bet the will be chasing Wallace if not for anything other than driving the price up on the Phins...It's no secret Miami needs Wallace

I believe the final numbers were 5 years 55 million with 26 million guaranteed...basically Vincent Jackson money.

I'm thinking Wallace is 5 years 60 million with at least 30 million guaranteed.

At this point I don't know which avenue Ireland is going to take. I subscribe to the idea that it will be easier to find the next Jennings in the draft than it will the next Wallace. But by all accounts (minus what I believe was a bogus report) it would seem Jennings is exactly the type of vet Philbin wants.

It will be chaos among fans if Ireland gets neither. I don't see Welker being an acceptable substitute.
