With the departure of Tony McDaniel, the Dolphins have added defensive lineman Vaughn Martin, who will hopefully add depth to the defensive line rotation. With Randy Starks and Paul Soliai entrenched as the starters, Martin will see playing time as a reserve in the defensive line rotation.

In San Diego, Martin played as a 3-4 defensive end, but at his size, he fits better as a defensive tackle in a 4-3. Martin reportedly signed a two year deal.

In 2012, Martin ranked 33rd out of 34 defensive ends playing in a 3-4. He ranked 31st in pass rushing and 30th against the run.

As a pass rusher, Martin had 1 sack, 4 QB hits and 4 hurries.

He graded out negatively in most games played in 2012.

Hopefully he fits better as a 3 technique than he did a 5.
