The Dolphins will move seventh-round S Don Jones to cornerback.
They're projecting him as a slot corner. An Arkansas State alum, 5-foot-11, 191-pound Jones ran forty times of 4.40 and 4.42 at his Pro Day, also leaping 42" vertically. He's a great athlete, but will have to pay dues on special teams.

Interesting. He played strong safety in college. I would have thought for sure he was Jonathon Amaya's replacement. I guess that's why they listed him as a DB instead of a S or SS on the team page. Interesting. So we might see R.J. Stanford and Nolan Carroll both gone if Davis and Jones can play.

Has anyone see Don Jones play? I don't know anything about him other than he's fast lol. He must have good cover skills if they are moving him to CB. I also heard on the radio that he was the biggest sleeper on one of these draft experts rankings. I forgot who tho.

I just caution everyone to temper expectations of who will make the team and what role they will have.

BJ Cunningham from last year comes to mind.

This has to mean that Richard Marshall will be competing for a safety spot; doesn't it?

Some highlights. This guy looks even faster than his 40 time suggests. He doesn't hesitate and closes in real fast! Dude suplexed a guy around the end of the video lol. Looks like an interesting prospect:

In the game against Kent State in the bowl game, he played a lot in the slot. Kind of like Kenny Vaccaro of Texas.

See him playing a lot of zone (fits our scheme) in those highlights and not at safety. Hits hard but needs to wrap up when he hits. Plays fast. (This is all based on that highlight video of course). Nice depth player.

I really like Jones' instincts and high motor. He will definitely be a nice gunner on special teams if anything.
