Tannehill was 8 of 11 for 72 yards. Three TDs. Excellent night overall

I love the idea of Thigpen in the slot.

I'm not worrying about it. The players are getting back into NFL shape with the contact. As long as I do not hear ACL or MCL I'm not going to sweat it this time of year.

Hartline had a calf strain last year that kept him the shelve awhile. I would expect Philbin and company to nurse him along slowly.

Observations

Tailback Marcus Thigpen, who was used as a slot receiver last year, has apparently returned to that role. Thigpen's scrimmage snaps were as a receiver…. Cornerback Dimitri Patterson started Monday night's scrimmage, replacing Richard Marshall as the cornerback paired with Brent Grimes….Josh Samuda appears to be getting a full-time tryout as the starting left guard. Nate Garner replaced him as the backup center and rookie Dallas Thomas was on the second-team line….TE Michael Egnew and WR Brandon Gibson both dropped possible touchdown passes from Tannehill.

Great. A running back manning the slot.

I go away for three weeks and come back to someone suggesting a RB as a slot receiver. Yikes

He was lined up there last season, filled in for an injured Bess...

I want all playmakers on deck, and he is certainly a playmaker.
He's going to have another big year in the return game too.

Spot duty. It's not like he's played that position his entire career.

How is that different from what he may do this season given we have 3 top WRs and a TE that would also line up in the slot?

Depends on our reliance ... i.e. how often he's used there. It's not his natural position. I'm supposed to get giddy because he filled in for Bess? But wait ....

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/p ... /gamelog//

What about his performance in those games am I supposed to feel comfortable about when it comes to him playing the position this year? He had 1 catch for 15 yards vs. JAX, BUF, and NE replacing Bess.

Who is asking you to get giddy? lol

I dont think he is switching positions, just realize he has experience lining up there and running a route. Its pretty obvious we do not have a slot WR. Your either a WR or your not.

I sure hope Miami's receiving corps and the way they use their depth past Wallace and Hartline doesn't turn into a "Goat Rodeo".

Benefit of the doubt for now, but as a fan, I am concerned of a repeat scenario this season.
