Per Philbin........"Egnew has really improved........he's a guy we're really excited about"

For Egnew........this camp has been a complete 180 to last year.

Whenever Parcells/Sparano said someone was having a good camp, that meant they were about to be cut. Let's see if Philbin feels the same way

I'm going to take Phinblin on his word.......it would be great to have a dual tight-end threat.

Yea, lets hope that our new coach is a stand up guy in what he says and does not like that wack job Sabin.

All "really improved" means is he moved from potential cut to third string.

Egnew may have just become our primary pass catching TE with Keller's injury...

Clay is an H-back.

I've seen him most at FB and TE.

He is listed as FB/TE on the Dolphins website.

I'd trust Clay's hands more than Egnew's right now. We will be seeing someone else at TE for sure. TE by committee?

Exactly... that's referred to as an H-back.

Dion Sims, plus a FA TE after the Keller injury. Egnew isn't ready, and Clay is a good compliment, not a starter.

I still have more confidence in Clay at TE than Egnew.

He had no other way to go. Is it possible for him to have gotten worse?

Sure he could have gotten worse or remained the same.

He looked good on that holding penalty in the first quarter. At least he's getting his name called in games this year.

:fart:

It is an improvement. Last season he would have gotten pancaked or tossed like a rag doll.

He actually had a nice block on the play, but when Lamar Miller changed directions, Egnew didn't adjust.

I know people like to rip him, but he looks more like a football player this offseason than he didn't at any point last season.

Agreed. He's playing with more urgency.

Hopefully he doesn't lose that just because he's now safe of getting cut.

Clay named starting TE? Maybe they are trying to motivate Egnew?

I still think its more TE by committee. Clay is probably the best overall at the moment.

Egnew probably becomes the third down specialist. Sims just has to prove consistency.

Sounds like Evan Rodriguez may have a shot now too.
