To be fair, Tannehill had a lot more around him than Weeden did

Y'all don't think that Hartline and Bess were better than Gordon and Little by a significant amount?

Josh Gordon is probably a better player than both Hartline and Bess. Little is probably about as good.

Gordon had more touchdowns and is a deep threat. Neither Hartline or Bess are deep threats.

Sorry... it's a wash.

I don't see it that way. What I saw tells me that our WR's last year were better than theirs. Maybe that's just my bias, but that's how I saw it.

Gordon had 5 TDs and a high yards per catch average. He had about 800 yards receiving. Little had 4 TDs.

How many TDs did Hartline and Bess combine for?

That should be a huge factor in determining who is the better player.

Both Gordon and Little are better than Bess, that's for sure.

I'll take it a step further...

Let's look at top 5 targets.

For Weeden, his top 5 targets last year were:

Gordon
Little
Watson
Richardson
Benjamin

They totaled 221 catches for 2618 yards and 15 TDs

Tannehill's top 5 targets were:

Hartline
Bess
Fasano
Bush
Clay

They totaled 229 catches for 2697 yards and 11 TDs

I don't see where Tannehill was surrounded by "a lot" better talent.

Also, Cleveland had a better offensive line, by far, than Miami.

That's not true Rich. Cleveland's line was not "by far" better than Miami. They only ranked 5 spots ahead of Miami in pass protection and one spot ahead in run blocking. I wouldn't call that "by far".

I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers, but they are way off.

The Browns ranked 5th in pass protection and 14th in run blocking in 2012.

The Dolphins ranked 23rd in pass protection and 23rd in run blocking in 2012.

The Browns offensive line was, BY FAR, better than Miami's.

Yes, they are focusing solely on sacks, which can be a misleading statistic. Sacks are not always the fault of the offensive line. Sometimes the QB holds onto the ball too long. Sometimes he scrambles into a sack. Sometimes receivers don't get open and you have a coverage sack.

I trust Pro Football Focus's approach much more. They look at it snap by snap and player by player and take into account hits and hurries allowed as well.

To further the argument, Joe Thomas was the 9th best overall tackle in the league last year. Cleveland's right tackle, Mitchell Schwart, was 23rd overall. This is for all tackles, left or right.

Meanwhile, Jake Long was 44th and Jonathan Martin was 72nd.

Greco was the 19th best guard, Jason Pinkston was 30th.

Meanwhile Incognito was 23rd and Jerry was 47th.

Cleveland's center Alex Mack was 10th while Mike Pouncey was 8th.

Big disparity at the tackle position, they had better guards and pretty much a wash at center.

I rescind my statement. They do have a much better offensive line.

But that was last year.

This year, I believe Tannehill has the better weapons to throw to and while Cleveland's offensive line is probably still better, we upgraded right tackle significantly.

All we need now is for Jonathan Martin to take that next step. If he can continue performing like he did in the preseason, we should be alright.

I remember somewhere in the annals of of the NFL that coaches used to ask players to refrain from sex the night before a game....this could tip the game in favor of Cleveland.

Good debate guys. I "skimmed" the posts but was Richardson mentioned? He's a beast that should open up the passing game. I can't wait till sunday!

Gordon has an elite skillset and Richardson is much better than Bush. And he had a way better line.
