DAVIE – Dolphins running back Marcus Thigpen offered his services to Dolphins coaches as a solution to the team’s struggling running game. He was rebuffed.
So now he’s biding his time. He’s staying patient. And he’s doing it with a good attitude.
But it’s not easy.
“It’s a little frustrating because I know I can give the team a little spark,” said Thigpen, who had a 50-yard reception against New Orleans. “But I do understand what they have on their plate as well.” ...
Unfortunately for Thigpen, a second-year player who has one career carry for eight yards, he’s not what the offense needs. In fact, the Dolphins don’t seem to have what they need anywhere on the roster.
The Dolphins need a running back that specializes in the ground game. Thigpen (5-9, 195) is a guy that you put in the slot, throw the ball to him, and see if he can beat his man one-on-one and break a big play. ...
